Ok, this is probably well known but I couldn't find an answer in the FAQ.

When creating a schematic, do you need to only put the additive in the schematic, or do I need to put additives into the factory when I run the schematic. I am new to chef and shopping for nutrients and want to make sure I am buying enough things. Also, when creating the additive I need to have one nutrient or enough nutrients to run the whole schematic like in the factory situation above. Thanks for the help!

All subcomponents with the exception of drink containers require factory identical serial numbers to do a factory run of the final food. Each final item requires it's own additive from the input hopper. So if you want to make a run of 250 enhanced Brandies, you'll need 251 medium additives (since one gets used up making the Brandy schematic), which requires 252 Broad Spectrum Nutrients (since one gets used up making the additive schematic).

Since you need a physical additive to make the schematic for the final food, you'll probably want to do a factory run of additives, use up one of those to make the Brandy schematic, move the additives to the input hopper (along with the required amount of alcohol, casks, fruits, and berries) and then run that.

Thanks for the info. Now I see why food is so expensive...it costs you 50k per crate off the top just for the nutrients! Not to mention all the other resource costs.
