Yeppers.
You dont need 12 points but its very helpful when trying to make the most well rounded schematics. If you just starting out spend your money on great resources first. Then go after skill tapes.

I'm currently a 10 pt chef and I can make products relatively competetive with the 12 pointers I find... the catch is you are going to have to cut some profit to match their quality, or even attempt to...
But that quality is what's going to keep you afloat, in any business, those who put out junk are not going to build a customer base. And if you dont have a customer base how will you ever raise the funds to become 12 pt? assuming you're wanting to fund it with your own products.
EIther way I just can't wait to see what I can do with 12 pts and my same high-standard for resources ^_^
