Thread: Medics = health wounds, entertainers = mind wounds, food = action wounds

Since no one else is biting on this one, heres my take:

I wouldn't mind seeing food heal Action wounds ALSO. Not exclusively.

It does make sense along with your post, about actual food adding energy, etc. I don't want a third place to have to stop however when I am getting my wounds healed. If there were someone selling food in the cantina, I would be likely to buy it from them, and eat it there, then run to the medical center to take care of my health wounds.

It is a very valid idea, and if implemented would give the chef profession a large boost! However, do not take this ability away from doctors.

I wouldn't mind it. Make for 3 fewer meds I'd have to carry around in my pack, leaving room for more food.

Thought it makes sense in reality, I don't like this idea when you put it in the context of the game and its mechanics. If this were introduced what stat on the food would indicate the amount of action healed? Only action buff foods? Would dom arts foods be just as effective?Would a cooks cooking ability be evaluated when healing the action pool. What aboutaction secondarywounds, does food heal your quickness.

Personally I'd like to see something a bit more exciting rather than cheff and 1/2 medic.

Or rather that to me is how I think the issue with food needs to be resolved, I beta tested some fo the chef profession before they did an Ahazi player wipe which pretty much destroyed any of the further testing, needless to say the issue with a lack of demand was very present even then and I suggested this idea originally. Now that the designers are actually looking for ways to resolve this lack of demand I figured I'd repost a suggestion which gets around the issue of making food overpowered or needing to rebalance all of the buffs in the game to a new standard.

It's very simple really, action wounds should be healed with food and ONLY food. It makes perfect sense from a 'realism' point of view as well then since a hunting party will come back from their long journey, sit down in the local cantina, they watch the dancers and listen to the music, order a meal to help them recover and then off they go to the medical centre for that final bit of healing. It also makes sense for what the action pool actually is, it's you're physical energy thus it's not something you can really get healed by doctors and medics. When someone hasn't eatten for a long time they neaturally feel weaker because their body has no protiens and energy reserves to burn through, thus they're not operating at their maximum capacity. How is something represented in SWG as not being at it's maximum? With wounds of course.

Thus is makes complete and perfect sense for the buffs and duration of foods to remain the same, thus avoiding the rebalancing that would be needed for medical buffs and spices as well, but then allowing for food to be the only way in which to heal action wounds.

So then all you cooks and chefs? Does that sounds like an easy and effective solution to you?

I'm partial on the matter. I played a cleric in EQ, so I don't want to heal anyone ever again

I would rather be a provider of food and drink which will enable customers to increase their personal attributes greater than they normally can. I don't want to worry about healingas there are already enough ways to heal in game. From what I can rememberyou can rest at a camp, a medical facility, a cantina, your own personal house, or yourPA hall. Alsoany medicwith a droid can heal you anywhere and at anytime. All of these ways willheal your wounds over time, some quicker than others.

I've also always thought of action wounds, as being physical wounds to movement, like a laser blast to the leg will hinder your movement. I don't see how food would fix this problem, as it would still need to be treated by a medic.

As for the buffs, I really don't think there is a problem between Chef buffs, Medic buffs, and Smuggler buffs as they are all different in their own way. The smuggler ones have huge bonuses, last for around 10 minutes but then you crash afterwards and are penalized. The medic buffs last a long time as well, but you have to acquire the services of a medic to buff you in the first place, you can't just carry him around with you like food or spice. The chef buffs have no negative side effects, can stack on top of each other, but currently only last a short while.

I don't want to be a healer class. The game isn't set up for it. It's band enough you can't heal mind injuries now. It could be an outlet, but I don't want healing to be my primary place. I want to make foods that people enjoy. I want good buffs that last a decent amont of time. Right now ours are too short. Who wants to eat all the time. It just gets tedious to track all that stuff. I'd like to see our buffs improve skills. Maybe buffs that improve xp gain or something.

I said healing WOUNDS not healing the bar, that can still be used for stims. The fact of the matter is that most people don't bother with food because the buffs are too minor and the bottom line is that buffs in general aren't very desirable. This doesn't just effect food but also spice and the doctors enhancers. People tend to just not bother with them on the whole. The only way to get them interested is if it stops them from losing something. Thus action wounds would be the ideal way to get people to buy food. But it would need to be exclusive to the food otherwise people will just go into the medical centres where they can get healed pretty much for free.

the reason most people don't bother with buffs is that the duration is too short.
