I don't know if anyone else has done this, but I have claimed the Tyrena Cantina on the Wanderhome server. I take responsibility for it and enforce certain rules, like no weapons in the bar. I also pay my entertainers (only a small amount, like 100-200cr an hour) to offset all the people who don't give tips. It is known as Kiet's Place Cantina to most of the regulars who go there. I was just wondering if anyone else ever does anything like this. I think every bar should have someone responcible for it, and it would be really cool if we could get all the cantinas under some sort of management, and be able to change the name on the world map...stupid generic names.... I know the player city cantinas will be coming out soon, but I like the one I'm in. By the way, does anyone know when and for how much the Player Cantinas will be coming?
Thanks

Manager of Kiet's Place Cantina, right next to the Tyrena Spaceport. Stop by for a drink, the Kreetles are our excelent house band. Kiet's Place Cantina, the cheapest drinks in town.

Not only am I in the process of kinda-sorta doing this myself, I am doing it in the exact same place on the Tempest server: The Tyrena Cantina. Let's hear it for our dumbbell-shaped town!
I have a dream which I am 99.9999999% certain will never be implemented (but I can still dream). It involves a new Elite profession, called the Bouncer.
Requirements: Unarmed IV, Rifle IV
Special Abilities:
* The Bouncer has the ability to initiate PvP combat against any player who starts a fight inside a building where Entertainers and Doctors do their work, regardless of faction. If an Imp comes in to the cantina and starts shooting up the Rebs, the Imps and Rebs all gain TEFs from the perspective of the Bouncer, and he can freely attack any of them.
* The Bouncer can incapacitate players normally inside an appropriate building, but cannot deal a Deathblow to players thus incapacitated. However, the Bouncer gets a targeted /eject command, which allows him to "kick the bums out". The Bouncer can only use the /eject command on incapacitated players. Players thus ejected are prohibited from re-entering the building for a brief time (10 minutes or so).
* Bouncers gain the ability to leap over the bar, and get a spiffy animation for doing so. (I have been a real-life bartender in a place where the bartenders were also the security. Leaping over the bar to break up a fight is big fun. Landing squarely on top of two fighting frat boys is even MORE fun.)
(This is, btw, a completely serious suggestion. Well, maybe except for the "leap over the bar" ability. But I'm dead serious about the rest of it.)

I think that's a great idea. Do you know if the owner of player owned cantinas will be able to eject people? There are 5 or six people that reguarly come into my bar (the rebels I support no less!) that just come in to cause trouble. I am a rebel symathizer. They come in and start throwing grenades in my bar, just to piss me off. The imperials on the other hand have all been very polite and courtious and always put their weapons away when I ask. I'm beginning to think that supporting these guys is a big mistake. I know plenty of rebels that are great people, but why throw grenades in a bar. The eject command is what I crave!
Just wondering, why did you choose the Tyrena Cantina. I chose it because it is not rediculously crowded, there are not insane amounts of entertainers there, but there are enough to have a decent staff, and it is right next to the spaceport, so although its not crazy, we do quite regular buisness. Also, am I the only person in the galaxy that is willing to sell drinks for around 10cr each while in the bar. You can't buy multiples, but I'm doing it more for roleplaying than anything else. It's not like our stat buffs are worth anything anyways ^_^
To all my fellow bartenders, follow in our footsteps and claim a bar, its alot of fun.

You can already do this. If you have a player owned, publicaccess building (which I assume you will make your player cantina), there is a band list which will prevent players on it from entering. They will also I believe be ejected from the building if the are added to the list while inside.
You could give your "Bouncers" admin rights to your cantina to allow them to add people to the list in your absence.

No real reason, other than it's the Cantina in the town that I consider "home." I started off in Kor Vella, but I didn't like the running up and down the mountains to get to any of the good hunting. So I hopped a shuttle and checked out the other cities. Coronet was too big and too crowded, Doaba Guerfel also had the "mountain" problem, and Bela Vistal was empty (and also had the "mountain" problem). Tyrena is on a nice, relatively flat prairie, isn't too big, and isn't too crowded.
And the Tyrena Cantina crew on the Tempest server is a friendly, organized bunch. They frequently have Beach Parties, where someone will make a camp on the beach and everybody will deck out in swimsuits and such and dance and play on the beach and go swimming and stuff. Very RP oriented group, which I appreciate.
(I've since overcome the "mountain problem" with the addition of Exploration I, but before I added that, running around in the mountains was a pain.)

Obydan. Cantinas are going to be a building in the player cities when they come out. Sorry for the confusion about that. Just wondering if anyone knows when player cites come out and about what architects are going to charge for them.
