Thread: Constructive views on changes that need to be made. Voice your opinions.
Let me introduce myself. My character name is Beans. I am on the Kauri server, am an imperial wookie master carbinier and chef. What I post here are my views on changes needed from a very experienced player. I have played ( not to mention) nearly mastered 9 of these skills listed. So, please read on and voice your opinion.
Keep in mind im not saying this game sucks. So flame away if you think I am.
Firstthing, the SWG world designers needs to take some pointers from AO : Shadowlands world designer. This isnt intended on being an insult.
Today, I logged onto AO, Shadowlands after I quit the game for a long time. The game STILL sucks, but one thing they did with this expansion is ungodly impressive beyond imagination.
The world design in shadowlands is nothing like I have ever seen. This is the first time that my jaw literally dropped as I was running through the wilderness.
Sadly, the fighting and character design is horrible. But after running through the new shadowlands areas, I was sickened about how POORLY the SWG world is done. The only thing remotely even good in SWG are the cities... and now, lol... thats even sad compared to this.
SWG needs content. And by content I mean STUFF <--- not a very hard thing to do.
We need places to run across and go "oooh! Ahhh!".
Another thing, you guys need to be faster. I know doing prog is a pain ( went to tech for prog/analyst). But c'mon its been 2 months and hardly any GOOD changes.
Those "places of interest" you guys put in are either broken or have no reward for going. Once insurance is back in, these places of interest willbe even more abandoned then they currently are.
Make the GCW mean something, and most importantly, make it DOABLE.
Dont listen to whines of people wanting vehicles mounts and space expanions. Fix the current game.
A few quick fixes to skills.
Brawling lines : Berserk 2 needs to be worthwhile. Have lunges do damage. Its not fair for a suppression fire to do damage, but a melee lunge doesnt. Intimidate needs to TRULY work in pvp.
Carbinier : Charge shot 2 still doesnt work. Wildshot is very poor on damage. Scatter shot 1 and 2 announces that it hits for 1 damage. Crippling Shot should be at or near par with pistoleers Stopping shot ( since it does cost nearly 3 times as much to fire). No use for burst shots, and for god sakes, fix the leg shots. Give us SOMETHING in the master carbinier status.
Chefs : Rethink all the food lines and stat bonuses. Make them scale with skill. And fix the current bug with stacks not working at 3 count.
Pistoleers : For the love of god, give them a dizzy shot or atleast their knockdown back. Put the knockdown at one of the master lines or at master itself. Knockdown is not very overpowered now unless you are dizzied ( even then there are exploits to bypass that).
Rifleman : Pretty good from what ive heard and seen. Their dizzy posture change and forced change are nice in pvp. The problem is, they are both VERY good and VERY bad at pve. Its very situational. I think this needs to be looked into a bit more.
TKA : No need to whine, the best of the melee just got even better. I pretty much think that you guys are done with TKAs.
Fencers : The supreme under-dog of the melee classes. Stun Baton doesnt work properly. Some of the style costs are higher than they should be. Also are probably the hardest to use in PVP. WIth the recent knockdown and lunge changes, its very very hard to solo with a fencer.
Swordsman : No changes needed really. Very versatile. Some of the costs are a bit high but other than that, swordsman are good.
Pikeman : Heavy hitters. Problem is, they are also heavy missers. Why such a negative to hit modifiers?.
Rangers : NICE work on these guys. Gave them something to do. Maybe a trap that could actually be used in pvp? .
Squad Leaders : Oh man. These guys need mega work. I read your post on these a while back. I think those are all great ideas. The problem is, the styles for squad leader FAIL a lot. Especially rally. Maybe not taking so much to execute these would be better. Also, the delay is horrible.
Bounty Hunters : Lots of debate on this one. They spent twice the amount of points that a pistoleer or carbinier would spend. So in my opinion, I think they deserve to do as much damage as they do. I have once suggested moving eyeshot to master status.
Commando: Honestly, just tone down the guns a bit but keep them at high damage. Everything else is fine.
Entertainers : Image Designers, Musicians, Dancers. These guys need more to do. I know that you recently added new flourishes but hey. Thats not enough. How about adding something that allows them to buff the mind pool? like added regen or added total mind for additional time ? . Heck, if I got a lap dance in RL I know my mind would be feeling real well for a long time . These guys need to feel worthwhile instead of AFK'ing at the wheel.
Creature Handlers : Now that you have nerfed these guys into oblivion. I think its finally time to leave them alone. After all, waiting 1 week for a pet to get full grown is bad enough. Not to mention watching an imp player farm faction for 6 hours to get a pet thats 10 times more effective than the best CH pet.
Doctors : Leave them as is. Buffs are AWESOME, healing power awesome.. these guys are perfect. One of the issues with these guys though is that the really high heals are only being used for pets.
Combat Medic : Good healing abilities. These guys NEED a pvp damage reduction STAT. I heard the stuffs a bit hard to craft.
Smugglers : Slicing is nice and all. Spices need to be looked into. But smuggler is very very borked and needs work guys. Especially in the underworld line.
The loot issue: Why is this failing? simple. Crafters hate the idea. A weaponsmith would be VERY upset if someone got an item that was more powerful than the best thing he could craft.
My proposal? INCREASE the drops of skill tapes and armor segments. Have NPCs that drop items that can be used in weapon/cloth/armor/food and even image designcrafting that add REALLY nice effects ( and require a high crafting skill to do it). I know that you guys have kimo scales and what not for armor. That just isnt enough. Have descriptions on these droppable items that tell the people what exactly they do. Otherwise its just going to be tossed aside.
This way it wont upset the crafters and on the side make them even more profit.
WOOKIES! We need more to wear, seriously.. rofl.
Increase ALL armor effectiveness, lower the ham cost. Just make armor MUCH better in general. Make a lot of clothing types wearable over the armor. In order to not upset the wookies, give them a natural armor bonuse if the armor is upgraded.
Rebs and Imps needs a reason to raise faction ranks. Perhaps lowering the cost of all faction perks the higher your rank gets. Also, the higher the rank, the more you are certified to use. For example, a rank 15+ imperial would be certified to use an AT-ST. Also, limit 1 AT-ST per person, but dont limit the amount in their datapad. A certain rank for placing certain buildings down, etc...This would put an end to the newcomer imps walking around with weapons of destruction and soloing hordes of rebels with novice marksman. Its sad to see 1 imp person solo a Dark Jedi Master.
