Food additives are not economically viable. They should be a lot cheaper to make or, the ability to use medic/ doctor biological components should be able to be supplemented toenhancefoods.

i believe that a partial solution is coming. at least from the BE side, anyway. Biological additives will be factorable, according to recent rumor, which will make them more useful to chefs on larger scales. Bulk should reduce the price somewhat, just like it has reduced my prices for durindfire and TS. (Even though the stack bug has been affecting sales...)

If we and the BE's can unify behind what we think is a reasonable solution to enhance the interrelations between our professions then the issues could be resolved more quickly.

As for cost, well pass it on to consumers! I mean if the edge is there then make people pay for it! Its not like you have never paid for a company's operating expenses before... LOL

I ran into a Master BE who wanted to sell me his components for 1k a pop, I understand the concept of passing the cost onto the consumer but I dont think anyone would like a 1k mark-up lol

The reason why BE components are expensive is because its so hard to collect the resoruces. An enhanced bio-strength component costs some organics 20 herb meat 20 carn meat and 20 EGGS! This makes it so its not really possible to factory produce these things, let alone lower the cost.

BECs made by medic and doctors however are ubiquitous, requiring only orgaincs+inorganics, making them a lot more feasible as a food additive.

Well, the prices on these won't matter to me since the BE in my PA is giving them to me for free!

Just to be clear, you cannot use medic BECs in food. And the advanced BECs are not so easy, requiring Lokian wild wheat and Tat fiberplast. Not that they are anywhere near as hard to makeas bio components. Anyway, I don't get the idea to have medics give components, the medical profession has lots of uses for its products currently and bioengineers are seriously lacking.

And ya, the only components I've used in my food have been free, as bioengineers get great UXP for these components so like to give them away when grinding. The components were not of particularly high quality (being grind product), and their effects were hardly noticable if at all. I certainly wouldn't pay unless the quality was much much higher and the components came in crates.

They're really not that useful unlessyou're helping a BE to level up. I got my BE friend his final box to Master the other night, he got 100 xp for making a Micronutrient supplement, and 250 uxp for me using it to make soypro.

They definately do work though, used enhanced components to make some Tempari, got an increase of about 60 seconds. Since it's like 840 to begin with, this is one of the only foods that it would really give a noticable increase in.

-edit- Would be master chef that is. Apparently the devs don't really care about fixing the fact that our products are pretty well broken.

So I guess that should read..
