I don't know if anyone's tried this before, so here goes. My guild has its city up, and we were discussing having a sort of flea market day, to promote our crafters and our city at the same time. Meanwhile my friend is telling me about his prowess at chili cook-offs, winning first place with an excellent chili con carne recipe.

So naturally I've started thinking about doing the same for chefs on my server... and I'd like to know what you guys think.

We'd place a house, or a guild hall perhaps, and decorate it carefully, giving it the appearance of a nice indoors cafe. Each participant would receive admin, to place their own vendors, and a "slot" area, a table to display stuff maybe.

An entrance fee would be placed on the building, something small that would serve as an admittance ticket, say five credits per fifteen or twenty minutes. This would be an all day event.

Chefs would cook up their best batches, and give free samples to those who pay the fee and enter, as a sort of "taste test" if you will. Perhaps we'd have doctors and smugglers as well, a combined event, to sort of show off and let people really know how awesome they can get their stats. Outside we'd have dueling events, with minor prizes given to the winners, so players can flex their buffed HAM bars.

At the end of this all day event votes would be tallied that each customer puts in as to who is the best chef. The winner receives all the entrance fees. The guild host would pay for redeeding the building, so everything gathered from paid tickets will go to the winner.

The intent is to allow chefs to compete in their own expertise, advertise themselves without shouting in Coronet, which puts me to sleep, honestly.

And of course Haviat Noire (our city) would receive some press... hopefully good, heh.

Anyway... any alterations or opinions are welcome =) The trick will be getting people to show up. I'd need a good PR staff.

The best example of a chef contest I've seen is one that kind of broke down on Ahazi:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Ahazi&message.id=80303&highlight=caravaggio#M80303

I wish it would have gone, but it would have been only like 2 or 3 of us competing, and it wouldn't have that "iron chef" atmosphere

If I ran one live, I would make the chefs name thier final product with some random prefix (d560pw) so that it was definatley made on the spot...that would give it a little more excitement. And give them 5 minutes per item, and add up the food point total at the end of the contest.

The big gate on this is the limited number of chefs on the servers. If you could get 5 participants, it would probably work.
