Combat Revamp Overview

In the future, specials will not eat up our stats anymore. Thus, food like ahrisa may no longer be essential. Aside from what is explicitly written in the overview, I hear persistent rumors that doc buffs will be weaker and that brandy will be taken away. Imagine that! A staple of our businesses and of players gone. I imagine that food like vercupti, the accarragm + garrmorl (despite its brokeness) combo, or many of the defensive food & drink like vegeparsine, elshandruu, and pikatta pie/air cake will become more popular. Are there going to be new food & drink, fixes to current ones, or will we have to ride it all out with our current selections?

Since this is still in development, your wild speculations, soft facts, and rumors are welcome .

Hmm from what I got from it seems like you will still need the foods to not get killed as fast as for the special move costs who knows about that. I don't see them totally making chef a useless prof cause they did all the work to improve it.

1) Higher stats will always be preferable to lower stats. Whether or not food/spice/doc/entertainer buffs get adjusted or not, as long as they remain in any form this will always be true. However, the relative gain in power for a given statincrease may change, which may change the demand for foods.

2) From TH's post:"Mind stat Balance - it won’t be the all-important stat in combat that it is now". Brandy, Canape, and Ahrisa sales may decline, but should be compensated by an increase in sales of Accaragm, Garmorrl (and yes, I'm still trying to get this fixed), Won-won, Kiwik Swirl, Gruuvan Shall, and Scrimpi.

3) Personally, I actually like the idea of chefs being "skill buffers" rather that stat buffers. If the HAM and armor changes mean that a player can take part in meaningful PvE without stat buffs, that opens up their stomach for more options. I have a feeling that much of our menu is under used simply because players need the stomach space for mind buffs (along with the occasional synthsteak, pikatta pie, or citros snow cake).

I'm going to stop there before I start edging into NDA-covered territory. But I'll definitely be watching the replies here for any concerns or ideas to bring to the devs during the alpha.

Gar, I know there is the NDA and all, but I am wondering, since they are taking away any damage taken by specials, what will become of the focus, quickness and strength stats?

I don't expect a lot of changes in my sales.. much of my customers are jedi who come to my shop because I sell things no one else has considered selling... My top sellers in order from highest down are Mandalorian wine, Exo-protien wafers. Air Cake, Thakitillo, and Vasarian Brandy

With many other unique foods further down the list that they like to experiment with..

But the bottomline is IMO, as more jedi come out of the wood work who already have no reason to worry about mind pool (it's healable by most templates) more skill and protection based foods are going to sell.
