I'm wondering if water turns into generic water or if it turns into some sort of chem. I know the loot forums is probably the best place to ask but eh too many posts there, it's scary.

As I understand it, all the recyclers take your material to whatever level of "generic" you desire. For example, Nabooian Vegetable Beans would go from the named resource, to generic Nabooian Vegetable Beans, to generic Vegetable Beans, to generic Beans, probably to generic Flora Food, then generic Flora Resource, and maybe generic Organic. I don't know the workings of it, but that's how it's supposed to work. An interesting question might be what the recycler does with things like Lube Oil and Polymer, with different sets of stats with values...
