Thread: Duration observations and questions

Ok, so I thought that the foods filled you up for as long as they lasted... however, closer inspection has revealed that this is NOT the case.. Since making Novice Bio-Engineer (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment), I have had much more need for mind so I started actually consuming my own stuff...here's the scenario:

I make and consume 3 Ruby Bliels (+mind) and 3 K-18 Rations (+Focus and +Constitution). I then open up my character window to watch for the focus to drop, so I can consume again. For argument's sake let's make it an even +50 to all skills.. so I bup my focus from 550 to 700 (more or less). The first time I observe a change in focus, my points have dropped to the original 550, indicating that all three K-18's have run out (since they come from the same batch, this makes sense)... here's the kicker though... when I fill up my belly again, I can do so ONLY with 2 rations.. making my new focus 650... in other words.. I can no longer get the full benefit of the stacking of foods...

But wait... there's more... I had a single serving of K-18 remaining in a stack, and I consumed that, thinking that I might as well get my regen up while I cooked up a new batch... and when that batch was done, I promptly consumed 3 of those, making for a total of 4 servings in my virtual belly, as opposed to the 3 I normally consume.

Does anyone have any results on duration that they can use to expand on this? because as far as I can see.. either duration, filling or both is bugged to some extent... unless there's something I haven't paid attention to.

no thats a feature to make food buffs have a down side basicly you eat them and if you fill up you got to wait.

best bet is not to fill your self up.

I don't think there is any formula because sometimes i can eat again right away and othertimes it takes what seems like 10 mins

Perhaps this is what "Decay Rate" is. Most schematics require 100% toughness for decay rate. And I would bet that most chef foods aren't made with high toughness. Has anyone tried making something with 900+ toughness just to test it? Just do something that is small and easy and requires lots of minerals (don't think flora has toughness). Then eat as many as you can and every 30 seconds or so try to eat another one and see how often you can cram them down (since the character sheet doesn't update properly). Then repeat the same process but using 100- toughness resources and see if there is a difference.

I dont't think I was clear in my initial post... the problem in a nutshell is that there is no apparent relation between duration and filling level. 3 of an item might fill you up, but you cannot refill yourself with another 3 after that... this in turn means that during any given play session where you make heavy use of foods and drink, the benefit gained is lessened over time!

In other words.. the sorry excuse for a buff that is most of our food is diminished over time. Am I the only one who thinks this should be looked into? Ín my mind it basically means that we have a "downtime" similar to spices... only without the benefit.

Someone prove me wrong.... please!

I think the devs intended a 'downtime' in the buffs where you couldn't be buffed all the time. I don't disagree with this either.
