Thread: Buying resources or growing your own?

By harvesting yourself, a unit costs you less than 1 cr I think (sorry, the homepage with the calculator is down right now). So compared to this 99.98% of all bazaar offers are overpriced.

I get the most important resources myself (all flora) with small harvs, I have rented 8 lots for energy, minerals and gas, and those stuff that is still missing is either hand-sampled (only small amounts needed anyway) or bought on the bazaar (at 1:3 at max). It works quite well that way.

P.S.: Sometimes you get a really good deal on the bazaar. A few weeks ago, I bought 6500 units of wild wheat for 3,000 cr. Although the quality is sub-optimal, I couldn't resist, esp. as Starshine Surprise doesn't care for quality if used for Sunburn.

Both, I try and get my own, but I just dont have enough slots. I definetly get my own water though, as water seems to be at unreasonably prices on my server.

I'll take 2 rocks if they're shiny...

I've just recently got into harvesting my own resources. Though I'm still grinding I figure later I'll be a mix of harvesting and buying since the variety of resources required will vary. I plan on continuing the harvest to at least help pay for those resources I'll need to purchase.

I would actually love to buy my resources, but I have yet to find a true organic resource dealer on Ahazi. I was kinda into the whole miner thing when I was poor, got to see the world, but I'm pretty over it. I realized how much time I was spending on harvester runs that it took all of my fun time (harvester running isn't fun for me, maybe I'm weird )

Now that med/large farms are in town, I might be more inclined to buy them from a dealer that pops up. Organics are still way too expensive compared to inorganics, but hopefully that will change soon.

I prefer to grow all my own stuff in order to have better quality control, it also helps me keep my prices fairly low since pulling stuff out of the ground is way way cheaper then buying resources.

I am curiose as to how many other chefs like to do this. I spend a lot of time running everywhere, but as I upgrade to larger and larger installations, I am now pulling in way more resources then I can turn into food, enabling me to stockpile the good stuff and keep my food quality fairly constant.

I grew my own, bought a stack of water VERY early on and have gotten some water from friends.

But beyond that I made master entirely off my my own stock... besides people charge FAR too much for flora (I've seen wheat selling 3k for 500 units!)

For flora, I definitely tend to get my own, since those are rarely for sale on the bazzar or vendors I've found. However, I will check for high OQ water and inorganics and if the price is good I'll pick them up.

If you happen to be on Chilastra and are selling for 2-4 creds per unit (I don't need any named resources other than the Correlian Dom Wheat, fruit and berries for Ale and Brandy), send me a tell and I can take some of those off your hands.

If its on tat, I mine it. Anywhere else I have someone buy it and bring it to me.
