I am just at the brink of making Novice Chef. I am a BE and working my way up to Master there as well. My question is simple...
Do I stock my vendor with items as soon as I have the skill to make them or do I wait until I master Chef?
I ask for several reasons. Scenerio #1 is, if a stranger waltzes into my shop and see low to medium quality wears, he might not come back thinking I am a garbage chef. That isn't good since when I become a Master, I will get more experimentation points and make better items.
Scenerio #2 is, people waltz in and buy what I have, looking for other things and sending me tells, in which I reply "Come back soon when I have mastered the item your looking for.".
I hear the philosophy of "Only make high quality wears" While I agre 100%, I don't know if I could finance waiting until I hit Master to make the best I can. What are your thoughts?
Help Please!

IMHO, while producing the highest quality products you can is probably most mportant to your reputation after you have a client base, you need to build that customer base first. If you can't afford to grind out master before making product, I suggest making non BE foods and putting them on the bazaar until you master. This will accomplish a couple of things for you:
1. It gets your name out there for poeple to recognize later.
2. You will start to build a customer base, word of mouth is always important.
3. It helps the newbs or people with low income.
4. Gives you practice with different experimentation methods without "wasting" your BE tissues later.
You can also name your vendor so that people will understand your situation better...i.e. "Ykai's non BE foods. BE foods to come soon."...or something like that. Obviously the wording could be better, but that kinda gives you a jump off point.
Hope this helps,

This issue YOU are going through takes me down memory lane... it is the EXACT same question I was asking myself when I was working up Chef. The tough thing is nobody else can tell you exactly what the best thing to do is. I was fortunate enough to be able to grind all the way to master without selling a single item. Furthermore, I actually elected to not even stock my vendor even after hitting master until I had a SELECTION of items to choose from... i.e. I didnt just stock up as soon as my first run of brandy was done...I waited until I had some brandy, canape, bivoli, synthsteak, etc... However the same approach might not work or simply not be feasible for you. MY reasoning was reputation - I did not want to start off having people come by and see my measly "Newbie Brandy ONLY" vendor then never come by again. For that reason I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of placing items on the bazaar first - gets your name out there and gets you some moolah. People are more apt to swing by the bazaar and pick up a couple stacks of "whatever-quality" brandy more than buy an entire CRATE of the same stuff anyway.
Here's another idea - Once you do get a bit higher up, have some stock built up, and have a vendor.... make a crate or 2of brandy, and include your name andvendor waypoint in the Brandy's title when you create it. Slap some singles on thebazaar and bam.. instant harmless advertising. I can't tell you HOW many vendors I found and bought from that way - just got some singles off the bazaar, and every time I drank/ate/used it... "Hmmm... There's his vendor... wonder what else he has there??"
It's up to you to look at your situation decide precisely what path you want to and are capable of pursuing, but either way you go... just relax and have fun with it.
Good luck!!

If getting the 4 boxes in experimentation before you sell food is possible I would go with that.
The problem your going to have is that some foods(mainly the stat foods) really need 10 points to become useful to many people. Brandy for example, even if you buy tissues you won't be able to hit +400 and 44+ minutes with 7 exp points.
Another option would be just to sell resources for a few weeks on the bazaar until you have mastered Chef. even at 2-3cpu steel will usually sell. You might also want to sell food on the bazaar. You will probably have to offer it fairly cheap but this will solve the issue of someone coming to your shop and looking at your food and never coming back again. People aren't going to buy your food and then never come to your shop just because they bought your food.
The other one would be to harvest some good resource and sell it as one lot on your trade forums. Even if you only get 2-3 cpu your still making a lot of credits which can finance mastering chef. BE isslightly different, since if you don't have a way of harvesting meat, that can get expensive.

try this.. make 3 crates of a replicate medium additive
use one for brandy
use one for accaragm
use one for gammorl
stats will be in the 200's, but uses over 65, sell it for 15k each, never in a crate.
Newbies will buy it, its awesome for new players
and, as your skills improve, move to nutrient additives.

I wouldn't recommendlaunching a vendor until you've mastered Chef and acquired the resources to make a few high quality foods. First impressions are important and if the first impression people have of you is that your foods are subpar, it's likely they won't give you another chance down the road. There are many ways to make the money you need without hurting your future reputation as a chef. If I were in your shoes, I'd find some other way to scrape together the cash because without your reputation you've got nothing. Better to be anonymous at this stage of your journey so you can wow them down the road...

I couldn't possibly agree with MozzerKing any more than I do.
Definately wait till you have some foods you can be proud of before launching a vendor. You definately don't want to be written off in people's minds as a hack if you plan to have a career as a chef.
