Hi, i will start to play the Chef profession because i think it can be funny. I have enough cash made with ressource trading to start this proffession without thinking about money problems. But one think i do not understand is why it is not needed to eat or drink in SWG.

It would be a great enchancement for the whole game i think. If u dont eat and drink for some hours you shouldn`t be able to run or your aim should drop down. Im not talking about about a starving death. But it should have some really heave impact on your stats when a player is hungry or thirsty.

How do u think about this idea ?

Being forced to eat and drink periodically in an RPG is annoying. Food buffing you up is a great way to handle it in the game...it is a positive bonus and optional, we don't need a "maintenance fee" for our characters. There are already enough money sinks.

What needs to happen is that food should enhance better than spice, better than doc enhancments, and better than mind buffs from entertainers. After all, buffing is all that the chef does. Those other professions have other areas of expertise.

Chefs just need to be able to make food that is much much better, and need to be able to get their resources more easily. Making food into a maintenance fee for characters would not be fun for anyone.

Enough money sinks in the game? Are you serious, because just about the only players that don't have a million credits are people that just started playing. Having a million credits now is a total joke and means nothing.

Personally, I don't have a problem with making eatting optional but if you choose not to eat, then you will take a negative effect toy our HAM pools until you do eat. Make it so that if someone doesn't want to eat will take a 10% to 20% hit to their pools. And make it decrease slowly but recover immediately upon eatting. That way, the player gets to decide if they want to eat and drink or not.

I'd rather see it the other way around - food provides long buffs. Those that don't eat are "weakened" to their normal state. What I would like to see is this:

Chef Food provides buffs that last as long as the food bars remain full. For example - Assume eating one dose of Wasteril Bread adds 60 to Action, and adds 4 bars to food. After 15 min, you lose 15 points of that add to action and are down to only 3 bars of food used up. After 30 min, your you will lose an additional 15 points (total -30) to the action buff and 2 bars of food. This would encourage regular eating, but would not peanlise someone that doesn't eat.

Chef Drink - same idea, but the drink bar should go down faster than the food bar. For example - if a player loses one food bar every 15 minutes, they should lose one drink bar every 10 minutes. However, the buff should dissapear as the bars go down. Alcoholic drinks would work a little differently. When consumed WITH food, they would provide their full buff like any other drink. If taken alone, they would apply a penalty when they wear off (similar to spice... or as they do post patch ).

Spice - Spice should be a short large buff. Should be larger than anything the chef can make (say a 1000-2000 bonus) but for a very short period of time (say less than 5 minutes max). Following that you incur the penalty of half the buff.

Doctor buffs - should not buff, but should provide resistances bonuses (e.g. resist knockdown, resist disease, resist poison).

Entertainer buff - fine the way they are.

I think doing this will increase the importance of food without overbalancing the game. A person that eats regularly (say eats a bowl of stew & drinks a tea) every hour will remain buffed. However, that's a lot of food to be eating, and the buff would not be so huge as to unbalance the game.

I really hope something like this is done....
