Greetings fellow Chefs,
I'm a new chef on Bria, almost Master, first run of Synthsteak (pretty good stats) and brandy (not so good) done, well on the way of learning the ropes, I refuse to just grind the profession then be a Master with no Product knowledge so i have been working with a Master BE friend and doing all sorts of funky experimentation with my organic resources and all seems to be going well...
Now for some advice, how does thispricing model sound for Synthsteak and Brandy?
(USES x CRATE_SIZE) x COST_PER_USE = Cost per Crate
Eg: my Synthsteak is 40% Dmg Red, 4 uses at the moment, which I charge 750 cr per use and do in 5, 10 and 25 item crates...so...
I charge 750 cr per "use" of this item, but would like a way to actually work out that figure, or a different one, as at the moment that figure is just based off what I have seen on my server and what I have seen through searching these boards.
(4 x 5) x 750 = 15,000 creds for a crate of 5
(4 x 10) x 750 = 30,000 creds for a crate of 10
(4 x 25) x 750 = 75,000 creds for a crate of 25
That is very simple I know, Flame if you want, I don't mind, but do any of you chefs have any formulas for working out the actual cost of the product BEFORE taking into account the uses/crate? Also, my model doesn't take into account charging less for people buying in bulk which is something I would like to add as well as experimentation and BE additives. Also I want to take into account my travel expenses and harvesting/manufacturing costs.
Eg: at the moment I am Harvesting Berries @ 0.23 cpu with my multiple harvesters including travel expenses, power expenses and maintenance. I would like to work this all in to a spreadsheet that would give me a competitive outcome of cost per actual "item" to add to the above simple model...
I am very keen to actually roleplay a Business, taking into account all the number crunching etc to accomplish that...
Iknow that I can do this myself, I did for MDE, but if anyone could share some tips it would be greatly appreciated as it would speed this process along greatly...
Cheers in advance,

Okies, I am new to the forums (in that I'ma reader, not a poster), but I have been playing Chef since last October - didn't Master until after the re-vamp (so I am all about taking your time and learning your products). Pricing for me has always been a pain...I pretty much sell only to my guild...but my vendors are up for the galaxy if they happen to come across them...
I charge per resource.....lets say it's basic stuff (no milk or special ingredients)...then I'll charge 3-5 creds per resource it takes to make it mulitplied by the number in the crate (not uses) and then I'll mulitply that by 2 if I use BE additives.
For example: Bofa Treats take 3 organic and 8 cereal (which is next to nothing) = 11 resources to make
11*3=33 So I'd charge 33 creds for a non-crated Bofa Treat (no matter how many uses it gives)
33*25=825 (if I do up full crate runs - or by however many are in the crates - I usually offer 5's, 10's, etc.)
825*2=1650 If I used light additives with it
I mark up slightly for Brandy, Canapes, Bivoli (because of the high demand) - but not by much. Also, drinks are hard for me to price because I only use casks, but I get all my trim for free from a guildie, so I don't include the Trim in my resources figure, which mucks it all up.
I really prefer to just make it and give it away or trade it....I love to cook, hate to charge.
If someone has a cleaner way to do it that doesn't undercut the rest of the galaxy too much, I'm willing to hear it.
=)

I also charge per resouce not per use. If it is a "generic" item I charge 3cpu. If it is something like milk or Corillian berry fruit (something very specific) I will charge 10 cpu. Then I take the total for the resources and double it. This will cover the costs of my harvestors and factories. After I double the total cpu's I add in the cost of the bio-enhancer with no mark-up on it.
