I've been working on a business model for chef related components. I'll be starting with dough, carbosyrup and alcohol.
I did a spreadsheet to calculate my power costs, being BER14*resource concentration.
I use that power cost and factor in my harvester maintenance, being BER13*resource concentration + power cpu.
So now I know how much 1 unit of resource costs.
I then take that cost and multiply it by 1000 for a full factory run.
I then add in the factory maintenance and power costs over the time it takes for any particular run.
Finally, I add in the overhead costs of my shop and vendor over that same run time.
I end up with certain figures per crate of dough, carbosyrup and alcohol.
My question is, if you could find a reliable source for these components, would you buy? What would you pay? Do you do all this yourself because its a non-issue? How much of your time would this free up? How much storage space are you wasting on components?
Would you rather these items be on a vendor so that you can go and buy them, or would you rather send an e-mail saying, "Hey, I'm gonna need 20 crates of dough tomorrow, can you whip that up?"
Thanks for any feedback!
(If this gets some positive attention, I may start looking to add other components, both for chef and other professions)

not to burst your bubble, but i would keep making subs myself. i don't waste storage space on them because i just leave them in factory output until i need them. i make whati need as i go, watch the vendor thinking "oh i'll need to start more ahrisa in two day" etc. for chefs with less factories (i have 12), this might be a good idea though.

A nice idea, but this is not something that really concerns me, if I need dough for canape or something I load it up in one of my factories and let it run overnight. Subcomponents are not especially difficult to make nor do they take much time or resources. I guess for me it's just easier to convert 10k of grinding quality wheat into dough or alcohol than it is to go off to some vendor and lug 40 crates of it back to my shop.

I tried this with architect stuff not much success thier either( just walls like 400 at a time did well). Maybe having the BE stuff allready made combining that with water is kinda waste of time. So maybe if you were a BE and chef enough to make those? but like the others i leave the stuff in the factory so storage is not a issue. Plus if I took it out i would mess up the factory run #'s cause I am sloppy. I run a greasy spon anyway

Hey, thanks for the replies...I guess the game isn't big enough for that kind of niche market...
I like making things, so it seems I have to just become a full chef...or I guess I could just remain a farmer, people for some reason like to buy resources but not the components...
