Hi, i'm a chef on Chilastra server.. i sell my sunburn.. for 500 a unit... and 400 a unit if u order 10 or more...

Am i rippin ppl off.. or should i charge per stack of a certain amount.... everyone seems to love my prices they say it very fair.... but i wonder if i could be doing even more business.

How and wat do u guys charge for ur foods and drinks???

Wat are your best sellers....

And if anyone is a math wise, cause i lack the skill... is there a way to figure out wat i spend per resoruce used on every stack i make of any items.. thank you in advance..

They should NOT sell for less than 500cr each.

cost plus markup puts them at 800cr each asuming each unit of ingredients costed 4cr... Selling stuff at cost or below is KILLING the economy. Look at architects selling small houses for 6k when they should sell for 20k...

We DONT wanna do that to our stuff which doesn't exactly sell like HOTCAKES to start with...

I started off selling at 200/use, and have steadily increased to 400/use... Now that there's more chefs selling it, and that I've talked those that I've seen selling for less to sell at this price, it'd be harder to raise prices... But 400/use, or 500/useis definitely not a rip off, It's a fair price for a commodity that gives such large benefits

If your stuff is sitting on the vendor and not moving, your price is too high. If it's flying out the door and you can't keep up with orders, it's too low. That's pretty much the rule of thumb I use. But I refuse to sell something for less than what it cost me to make.

Personally I sell sunburn for 500cr for a 2 unit stack and 700cr for a 3 unit stack. As my chef skill improves and I can make better quantities, the price will be rising. (It may anyway if the market rate for organics continues to go up the way it has been lately.)

400 cr a use for sunburn. I will get bulk orders for 50 or a 100 uses at that (usually take the price down 20% in bulk), and my vendor sells, so it seems valid. Someone walked away from an order once, saying he found it for 100 a use. That's too low!!!

100 per use is not too low to be economically viable. It might be too low for you, but it's not too low.

With a 35% wind spot and a 65% spot with a personal harvester it costs you around .6 credits per resource. At 100 resources for a Tatooine Sunburn that's 60 credits to make one. You can sell it at 100 credits for an entire 9 usestack and still make money. And they will be backto buymore in a couple days. Garenteed repeat business isa luxury few professions have in this game.

I don't think my time is worth 40 credits per Tatooine Sunburn, but if someone out there thinks thier time is and wants to slash prices to a refurbished bargain binlevel and yet still make money on the deal, well, more power to them.

Thanks for the great feedback... now that i'm about to hit Cook4.... its to hard to make single stacks.. so i think i will start selling them for 500cr for 2 stacks.. with experimented quality and timing.... on bazzar.. and any order of bulk will be 400cr each use...

Come on who else plays with a Texas Instrument Calculator next to them all the time? it can't jus tme me

OMG, I have a notepad dedicated to remembering orders, I have my calculator for calculating pricing, and I have dual monitors so I keep the chef table spread sheet open on the other monitor. Next thing you know I will dedicate file cabinet space.

i have a spreadsheet as well with numbers updated after every session. my average cost per resource is below .5C, so i tend to sell stuff fairly low. that being said, i actually sell absolutely nothing right now and keep the practice box checked until i can GET to tat sunburn, then i'll start selling. all you need is one windmill andit will power severalflora farms, people, and your cost per unit should be that low. you'll be doing yourself a big favor. i haven't moved my harvesters since i placed them, 13 days ago.

You're assuming that a chef should also be a Farmer and a Miner Hoggle... While a lot of us are, you can't say that even those of us who do harvest our own materials don't buy at least half of them from others.... And if you're shopping for the good stuff you can count on that price going up to 3-5cr a unit.

Anyone of us can undercut the price and then we can all do what the architects have done and kill the economy for something that is under used to begin with... There is a LOT more use of food and drink now that there ever was in Beta and the first month which is good... But n00b price cutting will not help chefs become self sufficient from having to supliment income by going on durni hunts..

So change that 60cr per sunburn to a cost of 300cr per based on market price for the materials needed and then lets look at how good 500cr per is... Make money?... Yeah.... Make 100,000cr an hour like a TK on Dath?... No chance! So does that TK deserve to only pay 100cr for a sunburn and we make a measly 40cr? Not in my books...

Just my opinion...

Personally, I won't sell a product unless I can make a decent profit on it... and that's with buying a majority of my ingredients. Hides and bones go for 4 to 6 cr each. Farmed goods 2 to 3. Water 2 to 3. Then the misc inorganics. I figure an average cost of 3 cr resource used. Then, mark it up 50% to cover travel costs, vendor and house maintenance fees, factory costs, and my time to make the stuff. Now, you add in the sunk cost in "grind" both in time and resources and it's quite possible that the chef will never be in "the black" as the "grind" time could have made hundreds of thousands of credits if spent doing missions.

In short, I'm not going to pay people to eat my food (which is what I'm doing if I sell for less profit than I could have made using that time doing missions) and just practice"gwouching" for xp until the people that are paying people to buy their goods finally burn out.

Cheers,

Yes, the example was based on mining it yourself. I'm just saying don't get upset or tellsomeone they are destroying the market whenthey charge less than you because they can cut costs of operationand still make a decent amount of money doing so.

I charge 100 per use and make agood amount of money. That's up to 900 credits for the 9 use ones, andwith my cost to make each itemeven with just personal harvesters that's a really good return even with 5 or 6 use ones.

Even if I do buy high quality reactive gas for the final combine I still make money because the other resources used were still cheap for me to get.

Here's a tip that will lower the cost to make them even more. Use fusion generaters to supply power for other harvesters AND the minerals used for the Starshine Suprises. The power is very cheap and the radioactives can be used in anything can calls for "minerals" and the fusion pulls out more stuff for less cost than a large mineral harvester. The dual function harvester also frees up a lot.

This is all just really in response to the "100 per use is too low"and "n00b price cutting" statements. It's not too low. I'm doing just fine at that price as an unguilded solo chef. I mean, I was able to buy a fusion reacter and a large gas harvester and I haven't done a single mission in weeks.
