Howdy all,

As an army travels on it's stomach, my guildmates andI were going to try and recruit a chef for our guild. We've decided before we approach any one, we'd turn the entire guild over to obtaining chef resources for 3 weeks, to hand to our new chef upon joining to get them set up and support them while the enjoy a life in the Empire.

I need some advice on what we should go out an gather for a potential recruit chef, that they'd appreciate not having to find themselves.

thanks in advance, and good luck to you all

Hey Doc. We met before at a wedding in your town.

First of all, good luck in finding a chef. There are few of us. Maybe more now, but alot of the increase is actually due to what we call Flavor of The Month and won't actually be around for long once they realize how hard work it is and that they selected the profession for the wrong reasons.

At any rate, what a chef will need to get started in a business, im going to assume starting from scratch because alot of the new chefs around, even if master, just ground up to master in a few days, and have no infrastructure in place or much practicle experience, is the following at a minimum to have a hope of supplying a vendor in a populated city.

2 heavy flora farms, 2 factories, 2 heavy mineral harvesters, 1 heavy chem harvister, 1 heay water harvister

At least one house for storage, 2 is better

A BE willing to provide them at least 40 crates of BE tissues a week

A tailor willing to provide them at least 80 crates of Trim a week.

An ample source of power for harvesters the harvesters, since he won't have lots free to harvest himself.

Specific resources to start out would be:

40k water, 100k fruit, 100k berries, 100k wheat, 300k gemstone, 20k carnivore meat, 20k domestic meat, 20k hides each of various types, 20k milk, 20k bone and smaller quantities of various other floras. This MAY get the chef thru his first week or so if there is any demand on the vendor. By example, since the revamp last thurs, i have sold about 300 crates of stuff off one vendor in less than a week, but then again, im a well known and established chef on the server that draws people from off planet even to visit my cantina.

Hey Shiskussi!

Good to hear from you! I'm glad for you that business is booming. It was your email to me at that wedding that my guildmates andI started looking into why we needed a chef on the team. Seems BE's and tailors are equally important.

We have gobs of heavy mining suff, and plenty ofpart time hunters. D'ohI just gave away 30k of carnivore...wasn't great quality, so I wont cry too much.

I figured we'd have to do much pre-work to attract a chef, and we're patient.Who knows perhaps some who now take this path as a FOTM, will actually find they like it and stick to it. Thats the player were looking to support. I think I'm going to have to talk to the guild about pushing more artisan and BE's through to make a more rounded offering for a chef and corresponding team.

Looks to me like chef is more work than doctor crafting wise....shudder.....ughhhh. you guys deserve every credit!!!

Take care, and thank you! I hope to run into you again in game.....provided your not always crafting !

One thing i wouldn't reccomend is giving completely free food to your guild. Discounts yes, freebies sometimes, yes, but if you guild is large, they will simply suck all your time and you'll never haven any time to run your business. Even if they provided 100% of your resources, which they won't, it still would be taking advantage of you.
