Thread: Dodge Bonus Foods

Wanted to make sure of something because I want to educate myself and customers who buy my food. Deneelian Fizz Pudding, Air Cake and Pikatta Pie give bonuses to Dodge. Does this mean that only a Fencer would benefit from this food being that they are the only ones that I have noticed that have the Dodge mod?

From how it was explained to me by the developers:

Everybody has the chance to dodge. Fencers have a greater chance to dodge than other people because of their mods.

Therefore, anybody can use the dodge bonuses.

Pistoleers have dodge bonus too. Conceivably they could get over 100% dodge with food bonuses.

Interesting.

While this info is probably the developers intention, I believe there was a post in the pistoleer forum about this.

It generally came down to only those professions with those mods will get a bonus. It wasn't that the bonus doesn't appear on the char, it is that the bonus doesn't apply in combat unless you have a certain weapon equiped(Fencing weapon for dodge).

Everyone does have an ability to dodge an attack, but it doesn't appear that any mods help that. This is the same bug that is making the Center of Being either not work or work very poorly for TKAs.

I'm pretty sure what SV said is what the devs want, I'm just not sure that it is actually what happens ingame right now.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Im a carbineer 0/4/0/0and I tried Pikatta Pie with medium additive 49% change to dodge.. I fought for the duration of the food buff and I did not dodge once. I looked thru the entire combat log and found no instance of me dodging. I'll do some more tests, but so far for non fencers and non pistoleers, I see this food as a waste.

I assume the dodge works the same as kd food. Ive tested two different types enhanced and regular. I don't have any kd defense normally but with regular i was able to avoid some and with the enhanced i was pretty much immune.

I guess its bugged nowbecause look at the Publish 7 notes:

Defense / To-Hit Fixes:

  • Dodge enhancing Food now decreases your chance of being hit.

  • Accuracy increasing food now increases your chance to hit your target.

  • Dead Eye buff now increases your chance to hit your target.

Vimes, this has been extensively tested. I'll quote the most relevant bit:

Raphayl wrote:
I can be a Master Fencer (which I am) and if I don’t have my One-handed Weapon equipped I DO NOT DODGE (Well, except for the 0.1% rarity I referred to.) So what happened? The missing link.

Dodge, the skill, is inherent to the character. However, (and this is important) THE MODIFIERS TO DODGE ARE ONLY ENABLED WHEN A DODGE-LINKED WEAPON IS EQUIPPED. It does not matter if you have a One-handed Weapon or a Pistol, both are Dodge-linked; both activate the Dodge modifiers.

so, unless the Devs coded the dodge food to work in a completely different manner than the dodge skill itself, it will only help fencers and pistol classes.

Figured this would be as good a place as any to post this find, rather than starting a new thread.

I came across a post by TH in the "In Development" forum, where he laid out some of the major features of publish 7.

Dodge enhancing Food now decreases your chance of being hit.

Accuracy increasing food now increases your chance to hit your target

This suggests that there's something wonky with the current system. Although I do hope those are going in as a hotfix, insted of having to wait 1.5-2 months for the publish.

Some other neat things included, too. Again, lets hope some of them get pushed out as hotfixes.
