Thread: experiment question
Experimenting is a way to improve the stats on crafted items after the raw materials have been assembled but before the finished item is put in your inventory. To experiement while crafting, you need to craftnear a crafting station and usea specific crafting tool, not the generic tool. You use experimentation points to attempt to improve various stats. You also run the risk of a "critical failure," which makes the stats worse.
It is widely used by artisans, weaponsmiths, medics etc. to improve the stuff they make. As best as I can tell, though, experimentation does not work at all on scout items. Apparently, this is a bug and is being looked at.
HOWEVER...they borked experimentation on scout items (traps, camps) in a recent "patch". Apparently they claim that they didn't know whether it was working or not, so decided to turn it off. In fact, it did work (however rarely), and I had several instances where I was able to make traps with more uses or that were more effective.
Of course, I have no way of knowing whether they'll turn it back on, so I now use the crappiest components possible, since they don't affect the outcome in any way.
example 1: manipulator arm
after i put all the material in, and go to the experiment page, i found that there were two bars that i can experiment, one is Durability, the other is mechanism, althought i can see the number s increase while i put the points in, but i don't know what they stand for....
i got three bar this time, durability, effectiveness and quality. when i put points into the effectiveness bar, the droid HAM increased. but when i put into the others bar, i cannot see anything happen.
