Thread: SOE designed chef buffs all wrong. Ideas here.
The designers of this game has made every buffer far to similar. In short, there are too many professions buffing the same things in slightly different ways. My idea is to add some variety, and to keep profession bounderies clean so that each profession has a clear niche. I want to post the idea here, as it affects chefs most directly, as the chef profession is the profession getting the short end of the stick right now.
Doctors get and keep health/action buffs. They last a long time and are large buffs.
Smugglers keep portable buffs that can be sold as items (spices obviously), that have the downside of the "downer effect" afterwards.
Dancers/musicians keep mind buffs, but they should be applied actively rather than passively, and these "private performances" should take no longer than 1-2 minutes to view, and they should buff by similar amounts and for similar periods of time as doctor health/action buffs.
Lastly,I feel chefs need to have something completely different, as the other professions cover the other avenues far too well. I feel that chefs should get a variety of skill enhance buffs. Think of a energy drink that improves terrain negotiation (how many artisans would LOVE that for traveling to thier harvesters?) or that speeds up the burst run counter so that it can be used again faster. A focus enhancing drink that improves aiming accuracy? Alcoholic drinks that improves ranged defense (as the attacker can't get a bead on that stumbling target), yet has a small negative hit to posture down attacks (making them easy to knock down).
I think the idea is sound and would give chefs a terrific ongoing business that ever other player could benefit from. Low level chefs get basic skill enhances in small skill mod amounts, while Master chefs would get rarer skill adjusts and larger skill adjustments.
Any thoughts?
I dont see why chef doesnt have everytype of buffs
They should have everything we have plently of food items to do it all..
Give some Active Buffs that can be aplied like doctor/entertainers buffs
Adds Some Drinks with downers but great bonuses
Add some unique skill bonus buffs
Add some weaker use anywhere buffs like we have now
Chef is the devoted buffer class and should offer every type of buff in the game.
They wrote in there game play advice that a Chef should be along in ever PvE group to provide buffs.. Well lets hope that a inlook into the future that they are adding some Active buffs and not leaving the class left behind in the dust.
