I'm going up through chef and I'm having trouble keeping up with the grinding and the stuff I'm making for customers. I'm thinking my harvesters are not "strategically" placed, so I was wondering what the other chefs are doing for resources?

Are you guys even using harvesters? If so, what do you have them harvesting and whats the reasoning behind that?

If not, what are you doing for your resources?

My PA is helping to get me some more harvesters and goign on this whole thing. My concern was I am about to try and "power" (as much as I can) to master, while at the same time setting up a shop for the PA to buy from. Its kind of a daunting task, so I figured I'd look for some guidance.

Thanks for the response, it was pretty helpful. Any other advice would be quite welcome.

If you want to power up the tree, the best tip is to not make any customer food till you are done (assuming you can afford the harvesters without income). You will run much more efficiently and faster. Grinding on max with all your materials in hand (and the Ithorian Mist schematic), you can do a branch of the tree per night, and be done in about 4 days (you will hate the game if you do that though). Good luck.

I've a Heavy Gas Harvy on Naboo (my first heavy ); two personal floras (there's some tubers there with 999 OQ I just couldn't resist); one flora on Corellia 2.4k from Kor Vella (wheat); one flora (berries) on Corellia about 1.3k from that last one; I've a small gas on Corellia pulling up a particular reactive gas which my schematic is based on); I've a Solar about 2.8k from Bestine (towards Anchorhead); I've one mineral on Tatooine near my house (~700m) for gemstone (Ufi) and my house. =)

I'm really spread out atm, but I also shift them around a lot, depending on what I need. Specific things, like metal, which I don't use as much of I get by hand, larger quantities like berries and wheat I get by harvester. Sometimes I only have 4 or so harvesters running, sometimes as many as I can. It just depends. I run a lot of survey missions pretty much constantly - I wish there were survey missions for floras! I'm slowly building up to medium harvesters - I'm going to get a couple floras soon I hope. First I have to pay off my heavy gas

I probably won't ever totally give up personals though - there are a lot of spots where the larger harvesters won't fit. But for some really heavily used resources, I'll probably constantly use the heavies.

It depends on what you need for your customers, but if you were just grinding, then 4 medium wheat, 2 medium corn, 2 medium water and some power would get you up to master without a very long wait (Ithorian mist). If you wanted to make sunburns at the same time and harvest everything simutaneously, then I would put another medium on gas and the last with a fusion to run all of them. That's a nice endgame, but a hard one to get to.

I had friends that didn't use their lots (pure combat characters), and borrowed what I needed to get my grinding materials. If you make enought of a profit from food sales, then you could always just buy your customer quality resources and grind with what your lots are pulling up. That can be the cheapest way to go since you don't have to scrap around everywhere looking for good resources, checking if they are active, finding a decent concentration, etc. That is just a pain. Your PA should alsohelp because, let's face it, a PA with a chef is a rare commodity on some servers.
