How worth it do you feel a Medium and Large harvester are?

I so far haven't seen any benefit to what comes out of one. Also, I haven't noticed that they consume power or credits/maintenence in any conservative way.

Someone said a Medium is equal to 3 small. Not true at all. I think they are there just to save lot space...well mediums.

I have a medium flora pulling some corn. I then have two smalls also pulling that corn. Same % spot. The medium curns out about 600 more corn than 1 small. I don't see the worth in that. It should be 3x as much.

Funny how a small flora costs 400 credits yet a medium costs 30K and doesn't even do a better job that it does. I would rather spend 800 credits than waste 30K again for something that seems broke.

I have a high Cap Farm and Id have to say Id never use a personal (small) ever again..

I have this bad boy sitting on a 91% corn spot on naboo and it pulls up roughly 8~9k corn a day.. a small would be around 12~15 hundred, im guessing..

yea, Id buy another high cap farm if I could afford one

I am thinking then that mediums are broken.

My medium seems to be working fine. On a 79% spot I think it pulls out around 5k a day

Production on a 100% spot:

small: 120 units/h
medium: 240 units/h
large: 420 Units/h

each one has measurements in K/H. Multiply that number by 60, and you have your hourly production(or you can look at it, and consider it as units per minute)

Yes I do. I have 3 large harvesters and love them very much. Right now I am pulling about 8-9k a day per heavy.

If you never bump up against your lot limit, you might as well stick with personals until you're ready to go all the way to heavy. As posted above, a single mediumharvests twice the amount of a single personal, at twice the power/maintenance cost. A heavy harvests four times the amount of a personal at three times the cost. So I just put down personal floras in pairs on resources that I want, and haven't had a problem getting what I need for my (admitedly limited) crafting. I've only hit my 10 lot limit once when I was harvesting three different floras, reactive gas, power and water.

From a straight price/unit basis, you only get a bonus with the heavy harvesters. And with the initial purchase price difference, I haven't had a real need for bigger quantities, so I'm quite happy with personals. Also, I can be a little more lax on maintenance, since personals are usually cheaper to purchase than re-deed. I usually re-deed my flora/moistures, since they're harder to find on the bazaar. I almost always destroy my mineral harvesters, after keeping them going long enough to drain the power reserves.

Speaking of power, there is really no reason *not* to upgrade your generators, unless you absolutely can't afford the purchase price. A solar generator harvests power at twice the rate as a wind, with the exact same maintenance. A fusion also costs the same. The averageconcentration of solar is comparable to wind (best spots I've found for both range from 50 to 70%), so you're getting twice the power at the same cost. Radioactives can be found in even higher concentrations, and the fusion reactor has something like a 16 K/H max rate at the same 60 credits/hour maintenance.

You can get by with 1 small house, 1 factory, and 8 personals. If you don't leave the planet much, the 8 can support you for quite a bit, especially if your have a small or selective customer base.

However, the moment you decide you want to mass produce with 2 or 3 factories, having mediums or heavies is a must. I'd say that 8 personal equivalents can support 1 factory for a 18-24 hour period depending on what you were producing. Bear in mind that this leaves you nothing on hand to make anything else or to grind. (A playercan easilly burn through 10-15k of resources over 1 hour or so grinding ithorian mists.)

For those who play a couple to a few hours a night and perhaps an extended period of time over the week, a couple heavy flora supported by personals for everything else is probably enough. As sunburns are our mainstay, I'd recommend picking up at least one heavy gas as well. Eventually you'll be able to buy more.

In the end, I'm looking to procure, at a minimum.

2 lots for housing (currently 2 smalls =P)

3 factories

1 fusion

4heavy flora

4heavy gas

2 heavy mineral

2heavy moisture (water)

1 heavy chemical (always good to have 1 just in case)

backed up by mediums and personals as required.

The houses, factories, and fusion will always be deployed, allowing me to mix and max the remaining 4 as required. The extra harvesters are nice if you have a friend who's willing to let you borrow or lease out their lots.

It's all about lot limits. 2 small will do just as well as 1 medium until you run out of lots.

I'm still using a bunch of smalls just because my resources seem to be appearing on hilly places where I can't fit a medium. But I am gradually replacing my stock with mediums then I will upgrade to large.

Ahhh excellent point about hills... BTW mediums and heavies have huge footprints.... about the same size as a factory.

I don't know about you guys, but I certainly couldn't get by with just a small house, one factory, and 8 personals. Currently i have a medium house with my crafting station and other odds and ends, a small for storage (called my Pantry...=o), three factories, and also 1 large flora, 1 large water, and 2 solars. I offset the rest with smalls, but I was really forced to get a second account in order to bring in the amounts of resources I need to meet demands. Running runs of 1000 startshines, 1000 Sunburns and 1000 Rhyshcates will do that to you.

Heh. I don't know who in there right mind would stick with Micro Flora farms... I have six factories, 6 heavy flora, 3 heavy gas, 1 heavy water, and 1 medium mineral. Not all of them are up at any given time. But 3 Heavy gas got me 175K of 973 OQ R-Gas in 4 days or something like that. So did I get my money's worth? YES! Without a doubt, the Heavy Flora farms are a wonderful thing.
