Thread: Chefs, the hungry bounty hunter says you CAN compete with doctors.
One word chefs "convenience". It is simply more convent for me to get a food buff then hunt down a doctor for a enhanced stat buff. It is so much easier to run to the bazaar, grab a few tat sunburns and a few buffs then it is to hunt down a MASTER doctor, becauselet’s face it if I’m going to get them enhanced I’m going to use the best.
As I’ve said before as a Bounty Hunter I don’t need an enhanced buff to last for an hour. I need one to last for 5 minutes. Having a buff for an hour may help me just keep hunting marks but for the simple sake of convenience I prefer to use short buffs as opposed to hunting down a doctor for long buffs.
Until Master Doctors are standing next to every single bazaar terminal yelling “ENHANCING ALL STATS FOR FREE” I’ll use you guys.
It’s just what I prefer.
As always, you’re friendly neighboorhood hungry bounty hunting “troll” (since I've been spending so much time here lately).
/cheer atimes!
Thanks for that atimes. Unfortunately the boards are usually used to rant about a recent problem that has come up or an unresolved issue. It is nice to have a positive post from one of our Customers every once in a while.
Now if only the darn login servers were working for me....oops there I go again ![]()
I agree with you there atimes. Foods are amazing, this is coming from a fellow bounty hunter. I've been thinking about the high level game in SWG for a while now (life aftermaster)and I found myself constantly searching out Master Chef's. It's simple really, I'm going to bediving into the GCW/PVP aspect once I finish my character, what better thing to spend my credits on then insuring an advantage in combat. My combo is usually 2 Ryshcate's (str, quick, foc)and 2 Tat Sunburns (regen). Spam away ![]()
I have a question though, why would you need armor?
Genuinely curious because I haven't worn armor at all and I'm 7k into investigation 4. Even after the patch, the most I would get hit is one or two times and I'm ready to kneel and heal. Here's my routine: Equipped scatter, healthshot1, Hs2 (if you have novice pistoleer), torsoshot (for fire), eyeshot (to blind), switch to your carbine (I have it toolbar.. no macro, you might miss and need to reapply a bleed from pistol), use FireKknockDdown, FKD again(to ensure one KD at least) and confusion shot when he hits the ground. Now, just pull out your LLC for damage to waste him. I noticed that when they are knocked down and stunned, you'll be pulling at least2k hits off the LLC. Of course, this is assuming you have all the weapon trees finished (actually, don't really need LLC4, but I would definitely recommend LLC 3 because of the accuracy + speed bonuses).Seriously though, I've probably died only 2 or 3 times since finishing the 10k cap on invest 1.. those were from the one shot fanshot kills the marks sometimes throw out.
Of course, that's my play style andI guess everyone hastheir own comfortzone incombatbut hopefully you'll take something away from it.
It depends on your prioritiesI guess - I didn't become a master chef soI could spend all my free time crafting to cater to random people who want to solo - I could care less about profit, money in this game is easy enough to come by.
I went chef becasue the pre-release information said they were the buffers of the game, and I wanted to provide buffs for my PA during PA events- but the fact of the matter is, in an organised raid, be it PvE or PvP, food is completely outclassed by doctors, and theres no shortage of those during an organised event, because they're so handy to have around for other reasons..
you mean the tatoonie suburn?
yeah that items not a bug.. its quite obvious looking at all the food the rest of the chef profession recieves is less then half as powerful.. mixology 2 should be given the tittle master chef.. would make much more sence.
You shouldn't feel that way Salq, I wish I was on your server to pickup some of that food off your hands. Here's my reasoning: Why get one or the other? Why not get both. The difference is that I always have a food/drink buff on me, if there is a master doctor buffing, get that buff too, theneata littlefood and down a fewdrinks.. all set to go.
Here's how my strategy goes: if I get a doctor buff, I'm putting on my composite armor and eating foods/drinks also for regen. If I don't have a doc around (more often then not) then I'm just drinking and eating. Either way, I drink or eat, why limit yourself? This has worked wonders for me against other people of equal strength, they're usually left guessing what happened to them ![]()
I'm sure most of you chef's were very disappointed when you saw what doctors can buff you for.. but in practice, its not practical to keep buffed that way.I'm lucky in that my roomate is a Master Doctor and buffs me every chance he gets, but even then, I find myself eating my foods constantly.
I'm dead serious here, but you guys are going to be seeing a dramatic increase in demand very soon, especially if you are a master (or can make sunburns). I'm starting to feel it on my own server (got quoted 80k for a crate of 25 sunburns). Of course, I shopped around and found a better price (everyone wants to at least feel like they got a good deal), but it didn't change the fact that I and many of the other combat classes are more then willing to pay that price if warranted. A house might be nice to use for storage, might buy a few guns but you run out of things to buy eventuallyand the credits start piling up.
Foods are going to be a big part of the high level gameIMHO.The biggest biggest problem with you guys from my angle -- is the lack of variety. I'm not looking at much else besides Tat Sunburns, Ryshcate's and Breath Heaven's, come to think of it though, I don't really need much else.
The game is indepth and complicated, casual playersare barely feeling comfortable with their own profession -- give them some time to learn how buffing is going to benefit them.. a lot of people flat out just don't know right now.
You cant justify chef being so weak..
The chef shouldnt be the worst of the three classes that can buff simple because out of the three classes that can buff the Chef is the only one Devoted to buffs..
If your not a chef then ya you might think some of the food is ok .. If you are a chef its really discuraging to know you worked so much harder and come in last on the effectiveness margin..
Imagine you were in a race with someone and you had to run 10 laps but the only needed to run 3 but in the end they got something much beter then you for doing less of the work. basicly thats the chef class as it is today..
The Chef Works the hardest for buffs but has the worst buffs .. Also Finding a doctor is alot easier on Corbantis the it is to find a chef so I dont know how it is on your server but Doctors are one of the most comen classes in the game.
