ok im not a chef but someone may want to look into this...
im a High-End npc killer. I hunt Elders and whatnot. Now the other day i was trying to think of ways to lower the Bleed rate that elders stick on you (its a pain to heal bleeds but you need to do it), and found some blood chowder on a vendor and thought id try it out. Now most of the time Elders bleed for like 200-500 point ticks and they stick them fairly often. When i use blood chowder...they stick maybe 1-2 bleeds per fight (5min) but they are in the 1000-1500 point range.
To me it seems like the Chowder lowers the chance of getting a bleed but increase the power of the bleed that sticks by like 5x. I know it sounds crazy, but the only time i ever get bleeds over 1k are when i am using the Chowder.

What was the resist you got from the chowder? Do you have any bleed resist clothing/armor? I know there are SEAs that give this resist, and I think there's a BE tailor tissue that can add resist to normal clothing.
This is probably something deep in the code, and with JTL and the combat balance, it might be tough to get a clear response from the devs, but I will try to get some details. Anyway, here's my theory:
A bleed attack may only have a "damage" component, and this is whatdetermines how difficult the bleed is to resist. So while under the effect of blood chowder, you "shrug off" the lower power bleeds but when one does stick it has a higher tick value. Depending on the Elders' AI, they may only do bleed specials when you are not currently bleeding, so without the chowder you got hit with a low-level bleed (which are probably more common) so they stopped applying bleeds. This means that they never "overwrite" the bleed with a higher power one. With the chowder, you go longer without bleeding so they keep attempting to apply one, and you eventually get stuck with a high damage tick.
I know there's a lot of "maybes" and "probablys" in that, but it would cover the behavior you're seeing. It is reasonable that stronger bleeds are harder to resist, and having the bleed's"potency" (to use a CM term) be tied to the power would be a simple way to implement that.
If you're buffed enough to be able to survive a tick (before healing the damage and/or healing the bleed) you might still be better off with the chowder than without it. If nothing else, you're using up fewer bleed cure packs.

I think it's just conincidence mate, I've had ticks as much as 2k from Elders, even when not using Chowder.

Bleed cures don't actually take any crafted materials fortunately, just requires /firstaid in medic.
Problem is that the nightsister bleeds target all 3 pools instead of the typical NPC bleeds which target health or action most frequently. Typically in todays world of high buffs this is the only reason people die to nightsisters.
You can get +bleed defense on clothing crafted with BE tissues, however I think you can only use this with one piece of clothing if you're wearing armor.
However, you will still have bleeds sticking. Best advice is to use intimidate to reduce the attack damage and make sure to bring a medic along!
