Quick Question:
I have a crate of Pikatta Pie (56% dodge, 17mins) and I can't seem to see any effect whatsoever when I take it. I see the buff in the buff monitor window, but I don't see it stack with my dodge skills in the skill mod window. I also tried air cake, with the same results (or lack thereof). I have pistoleer skills which give me +60 dodge atm. Am I doing something wrong here? Could this stuff be pre-patch and not work for that reason? Thanks.

Yeah, something is wrong here. The developers assured me that it was working as intendended. Either
A) They are wrong
or
B) We don't understand how it is intended to work.

It doesnt work when you have dodge already, it doesnt work when you dont have dodge. How else is it supposed to work?

I think that modifies your % chance to dodge...not you "Dodge" skill in your attributes window. Everyone has the chance to dodge an attack, and this increases it. I don't think this has anything to do with fencer/Pistoleer mods

I used the food prior to picking up pistoleer and I dodged twice out of about 100 attacks. I used the food after picking up Novice Pistoleer and experienced only slightly increased dodge rate, maybe 4 out of 100. I'm +80 (just trained) right now and I dodge frequently, but the food appears to have no effect.

I'm getting a headache from all these question which should've been answered with the patch. No quality in this work...they can't even tell us what the food effect isin the schematics.
/sigh, I quit trying to help. I'm just passing on half arsed info anyway. GL everyone

Ewww, bad news. Tekyo, if you got that from Cami's, just return it next time you stop by. I'll pull them from the shelves, sounds like it's not working to me. Thx for bringing this to our attention.

Dodge food (air cake in my case) works for me. The UI is not updated, but I get hit much less when I eat Air Cake compared to normal. I am picking up some Pikatta Pie tonight, which is even better statwise. The bonusmay notshow up in the character skill list, but it is working.

I'm using this pickett pie and it does not appear to help against melee attacks, only ranged. Is this normal? Does dodge only work against ranged attacks?
Thanks for any feedback.

How do you mean "not helping"? Pikatta pie doesn't actually add to the dodge skill (I really hope they update the description eventually), it's supposed to be a boost to your base defense skills. So you won't see any more "attacks you but you evade" messages, but you should see more "attacks you and misses".
Now, that being said, it's possible that inside the combat code the food bonus is getting added on top of your ranged defense, but not being added to your melee defense. If that's true, it'd definitely be a bug.
What kind of difference are you seeing regarding misses from ranged attacks, and what's your base ranged defense? What's your base melee defense? Is this PvE or PvP? Is the same opponent (PC, NPC type, or creature type) switching from ranged to melee attacks, or are you basing it off of different mobs/players?
The internals of the combat calculations are pretty well-hidden, and it can be hard to tell whether a given bonus is really working. But maybe if your melee defense is naturally high, the improvement from the Pie isn't as large (relatively speaking) so it's not as noticeable.
Or maybe the "%Dodge" bonus is actually a percentage increase of your base defense, so if you have a naturally high ranged defense, the absolute bonus is larger against that type of attack. For example, if your melee defense was +50 and your ranged defense was +100, a 50 bonus Pie might be boosting the values to +75 (50 * 1.5) and +150 (100 * 1.5). The absolute gain is higher with the ranged bonus.
I hate to say it, but we're a little unclear on the exact mechanics of a few of our foods. Air Cake, Pikatta Pie, and Fizz Pudding (the "dodge" foods) are just some of them.
/makes note to try to get details from devs.

Thanks for the breakdown, that does help. I"ll try and run some tests and see if I can answer some of your questions. Your response also raises another question: If I take the melee defense food and the pickett pie, is only 1 working? I have a melee defense of +90 now, with the melee defense food its 115. Am I able to combine these two? From what you said below, it sounds more like this food increases defenses, and is not a dodge. I was under the impression that you can not combine foodsto increase a base defense.

Yes melee def and the normal "to-hit" calculation are seperate. So it goes through the "to hit" calculation first, then through the passive defs (melee/ranged def) then through the active defs (dodge/block/etc)
So taking both will give you a bigger chance of avoiding being hit.
