Hi all
Looking to start a chef sub component vendor on my server to save chefs alittle time on factory runs and make alittle money.
I'm a Master Artisan and will be Master chef soon.....Plus I have a master bio engineer at my disposal.
Question1 ---Which sub components are the most needed or used ? (bio included)
Question 2 ---What is a fair price to charge per crate?
Question 3 ---Did I forget any pertinent question? lol
Any advice or help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all and keep up the good work,
Tully

1. Carbosyrub, Dough, Alcohol, Protato, and Casks are the ones I use the most.
2. Can't answer that since it widely varies by galaxy...might help if you identified your server.
3. Depends, always add more if you think of them.

If you're also offering pre-made additives, BSNs are the most used, followed by INNs and the occasionalMNS (mainly used in synthsteak). Mutlisaccharide Tetramate is sometimes used for the occasional run of Parwan Nutricake.
For subcomponents other than casks, put some identifying tag in the name (I use the first 4 chars of the serial number) so it's easier to pick the right one when doing schematics and factory runs. If you've got four runs of dough, with four different serial numbers, but all named just "Dough" you put a little more effort into your customer's life. Remove that effort, and they're more likely to come back. You don't have to worry about casks, since those do not require factory-identical runs when doing a run of drinks.
Speaking of which, if you want to run a full-service component shop, you might look into getting Tailor Formal Wear I, and make your own trim for casks.
If all you're looking at doing is components, you don't even need Master chef. Experimentation doesn't matter with components, and barrels (the only Master-level component) don't work. If you want to save skill points, you can get by with just Desserts I (for Bantha butter and pastebread), Entrees I (for protato, although if you also want to offer component veghash that takes Entrees II), and Mix II (for casks).
Pricing is going to depend on lot on your server, but charging 6-7 cpu would probably be seen as a fair price for non-additives while still getting you some profit.
Finally, you might consider putting full runs of components up for sale in a backpack or other container. This way a customer can get 40 crates of carbosyrup with one click of the "buy" button. Just so you know, that will still count as 40 (or maybe 41 counting the backpack) items on your vendor, so you will probably also be needing a couple boxes of Merchant Management to fit everything.

The things I use most are alcohol, small glasses and casks.
For BEs, Broad Spectrum Nutrients, minimum result of 80. (And from that, medium additives with the BSN.)
I sell my components at:
Alcohol = 1500cr/crate of 25
Small Glasses = 1500cr/crate of 25
Casks = 37.5k/crate of 25
BSN = 11.5k/crate of 25
When I have any to sell, that is...

only way a good chef component business will work is if you are prepared to deliver all your orders. I was going to do the same but decided against it.

I get the feeling casks will be a big seller for you. They can be used in any drink schematic made with any cask and chefs can't make them themselves. Alcohol and dough is just too easy to make and doesn't take that much time compared to the BE additives. Those casks are a pain to make and take a lot of crystal. I would concentrate on that first and build up a customer base there, then see if you can move any other sub component. Now if you have BE additives made into food additives, that would get attention. Most don't actively harvest water a lot and that be more appealing to buy than just the raw additive.
