Nope, can't be used in foods, only an "interesting" decoration. Well, at least right now... I wonder if there will be "lootable" enhancements to foods that can be used in place of BE crafted components. Although with the consumable nature of food I don't see how it would be productive to gather them. It's not like a Krayt enhanced gun that will last you weeks.

Exactly. Unless there is some type of one use schematic to use IN other schematics(i.e. you add a schematic and it adds buffs to a schematic, but doesn't require any resources for the additional buff), any lootable buff item is fairly useless. Docs are about the only ones that bother with loot items because they make such a profit off a single stack already that another bonus means a larger profit margin.

Unless they have a high drop rate. Or when they do drop they drop in large numbers.
