Thread: Question: Factories and XP. What is the truth?

Greetings, everyone. I've looked throughmany posts and faqs for Chef and seen a lot of conflicting information regarding the use of factories and the experience they give (or don't give). Has anyone here actually used a factory RECENTLY and obtained any XP from it? I tried a run of 100 Wastril Breads and got absolutely0XP. So here are my main concerns:

1) Do you currently get XP from using factories?

2) What percentage of the hand-crafted item do you get? 5%? 10%?

3) What are the conditions for getting XP (e.g., do you have to be near the factory, online, etc.)?

I have 4 accounts and a few friends that let me use their lots, so at any given time I usually have40+ harvesters running. As such, harvesting 10 times the resources is actually a viable option for me (and I'm sure many others--such as PA members). I'm already grinding through Doctor, Swordsman, Commando, Artisan, Musician, and Armorsmith (and I'm sure I'm forgetting something), so grinding through another crafting class with such a low XP/item yield makes me want to cry. Yeah, yeah, you should earn it, blah, blah. However, realistically, I'm one of those psycho perfectionists that researches resources heavily, hunt/harvest my own resources, then only make something thebest it can be made or not at all, so me getting to Master Chef ASAPstands to help the game world more than me not "earning" Chef would hurt it. Otherwise, I might feel bad about it!

1: Yes, you do get exp from a running factory.

2: I believe it is 10%

3: I believe you need to be online, and near the factory to get the exp.

I know for a fact that you get exp from factories, since I have about 150 SPICE exp, and have never been close to novice smuggler. Here is the general drift: it has to be owned by you also, a schematic you put in another person's factory will give them the crafting exp (my GF is a smuggler and used my factories from time to time). For all the crates I have put through my factories, if you got the exp at any time, I am sure my chef exp would have maxed out again, yet I checked earlier today, and I have a total of 9,000 xp total, a good portion of that from making singles from leftover small stacks of components/resources.

Therefore you do need to be online, and since I have a factory on my second acct, and my other character has no chef exp, I take that to mean you have to be in sight of the factory to get the exp.

So basically you'd be making 10 times the food you normally would grind, would have to manually get rid of the thousands of crates of food the factories would produce, AND the creation time for the said food in a factory is six times the time it takes for you to make it by hand. Yes, you can factory your way to Master Chef, as long as you don't mind making it around December

errmm no.. it USED to work. Ive spice crafting exp from back then and med crafting hehe. However right now I have 9 factories in my name and I stand next to them all the time....and they are always running and its been this way a pretty long while...my exp does *not* go up. However I do still get exp when I craft by hand.

When it did work tho, you had to be online and close to the factory.

No xp. I did the exact same test as you. Nothing would give me xp at any time.
