Thread: Experimentation question with resources

I have looked at the FAQs and have been coming to the forums for about 2 weeks not but have really not seen this answered. I saw some help on the Chef FAQ 2.0 but would like some more clarification.

It says that subcomponents made from other food/drinks do not matter. That is easy enough to understand so I will be using crappy stuff for this until the revamp comes and perhaps changes this. Correct me if I am wrong please?

The FAQ also says that using high end resources as compared to low end resources on sub components does not make a noticeable difference when fully experimented, especially on higher end foods. Should I save my good resrouces for the better food and use average resources for my sub components? Or has anyone seen other from what the FAQ says. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Just walking around with my title and no advertisement has gotten me aboutj 10 tells asking for my shop. I love this profession .

I always make my subcomponents really good, and I have noticed a difference in quantity/quality. Quanitity especially. Quality experimented subcomponents dont make high quantity end products.

the difference is very small with ARTISAN made components. The difference is huge with CHEF tree components. Starshine Surprises for sunburns dont matter.

Sorry for the confusion, guess I should've included more examples, but with the revamp coming down, I didn't think to gather a whole lot of information on something that's probably changing anyway. The only component I've done any real tests with is Carbosyrup, which as a DomArts 1 schematic won't have much power to it anyway.

We can't see a component's stats, but my gut feeling is that a carbosyrup's/alcohol's/pastebread's buffs and duration get added straight across to the final food. So a carbosyrup with +5 / 10s in all the stats used in an Angerian Fishak would result in a +440 Mind / -60 action / 750s final product. A carbosyrup experimented to +20 / 20s would result in a +455 Mind / -45 action / 760s Fishak (assuming other resources were identical and the success types of assembly and experimentation were the same).

I believe that higher level components have a larger base buff/duration. So a 100% carbosyrup mightgive +20 / 30s. A 100% alcohol +50 / 50s. A 100% soypro +60 / 45s. A 100% aludian +100 / 75s.

Basically what I'm saying is that if you have a high-level final food using low-level artisan components, you might get more bang for your buck using your good resources in something other than the carbosyrup.

Thank you Bob, Nikii, and Sciguy for the replies. Exaclty what I was looking for. Starting off for now, I wont be using the best stuff for carbosyrup, evne though 6 flora food is nothing, I might as well use what I have left from the grind. But for stuff like aludium I will experiment and try to use the best stuff possible, at least until the revamp. Sciguy, excellent FAQ and I would love to help on 3.0 in any way, but I will not have a chef for the revamp on TC unless CC is introduced.
