O.K. I did the boring grind thing to get my master chef but now I am trying new things and I keep coming up to a slot that says a bio comp goes here(optional). I have no idea what that is. I tryed medic biologicals but that is not it, so what do i need?

Bio-engineers, both novice and those with skill in Tissue manufacturing can make any number of items for a chef to use. Although there are some to increase Mind (at the cost of health and action) and Health (at the cost of action and mind) and Action (well... you get the idea), I personally prefer the micronutritional and macro nutritional items (they effect duration).
