Ok, I ran into a weird issue on test center, and was wondering if it was something anyone had seen this on live.

I'm grinding through the skills to prepare for the new schematics, and had gotten enough to train Mixology II. Well, I was running around checking harvs and doing missions for cash, continuing to grind until I could either find a PC chef or got enough cash to pay the NPC. The highest chef skill I could train was Mix II, 44800 food crafting xp. This should mean that I can bank up to 89600 xp,but I stopped earning experience from making Pyros at 56000. This had nothing to do with the macro, since I wasn't gaining anything from manual crafts either, and relogging didn't help. I tried several chef recipes (wastril, soypro, alcohol, charde), nothing gave me xp.

I'm going to see if something similar happens at Mix III.

Are you sure you're making food off of the chef tree? IF you are making artisan food, you don't get chef exp....

If Im understanding the question right its about the exp cap? I dont remember the numbers but I remember that I usually fell a little short of being able to train 2 boxes at once. Like Id get trained...go grind an hour (by hand not macro) then get trained again. Nowadays folks come into my shop get trained, sit there for 10 mins and get trained again. So I think the cap is not exactly where it should be, but unfortunately I dont have the numbers to back that up.

The experience cap is, I believe, half again of the highest box you need. I mean, let's say you are a novice chef and need 32000 to get to get to the first box of any of the trees. The maximum amount of experience I can get is 48,000. Once I get that first box, it will go up.

The reason for this has more to do with the combat professions. In beta they were grinding by keeping the very first box and going after very week creatures. Because they were so low, they were getting a lot of experience from them and grinding all the way to the top that way.

The XP caps for Food Crafting are very wimpy. Careful when you get to the top. I believe the cap before you get level 4 is 72000, for 70400 required.

After you have a level 4 skill, I got 100k and it hadn't capped. My neighborhood trainer showed up at that time, so I didn't test the limits.

I guess the caps are lower than I thought. It's not the crafting station, I was crafting on the run between harvs, and I didn't have a crafting droid following me around. And a half-again cap would've meant I could've gotten up to 67200 (44800 * 1.5), which is still higher than the 56000 it capped at. Maybe it's 1 and 1/4 the highest box, the math works on that.

Thanks, everyone. And just because I'm insane, I'm probably going to drop Mix II after getting 55k xp to check it again. It might've just been a display problem with the xp monitor (I didn't check the xp on my character sheet), and even if that caps at 56k, maybe after training I'll have more than 11200.

I'm not quite sure this is how it works; I am working my way back up the musician line (I enjoy playing music in my cantina), and I had enough for novice musician, but the exp coming in was so good I kept playing, figuring I would hit 100k exp (Novice is 50k). I passed it and had enough exp to train the first box in Music Techniques, plus about another 1/4 of the next box. Maybe it varies from situation to situation.

Oh, SciGuy:

Well, got some more info. The 1-1/4 above the highest skillseems to be the cap, at least for chef. After training Mix II, I ground up to 72000 (Mix3's 57600 * 1.25) before not getting any more.

I'm in the process of working my way up armorsmith with my main (got suckered into reading my christmas holo), I'll see where that caps off at. Maybe 2x is for artisan, 1.25 for elite crafters, and different multipliers for entertainers and combat?
