I am anticipating that I will need many of the resources I needed before. I have been gathering and collecting lots of materials I rarely use. 100's of thousands of units, to make sure that when the changes go through I still have all the necessary ingredients.

Based on what I read here. metal will be no longer required to make food after next patch. what about redioactive and reactive gas? should we still keep harvesting those resources?

AFAIK, metal will be required for making food/drink, but it will be a part of the container component.
The final combine will include organics and a container, thus removing the problems associated with crafting with both orgaincs and inorganics.

This means metal, redioactive and reactive gas are still all needed after patch?

At this point, it's all a guess. I don't even think SirVimes has seen all the details.
If it was me, I'd keep harvesting those items ... you can always sell quality radioactives & reactive gas to CMs if we don't need it after the patch.

Okay, don't quote me on this, but I don't think any of the schematics will change very much.
There will be tweaks here and there, maybe some things a little more specific, maybe some things a little less. But overall, everything will be about the same.
So yes, I definitely think reactive gas and radioactive will be required. Especially when the description for Aludium says something about a radioactive punch, and starshines same they has a special ingredient that adds a kick to it.

Other than the metal containers for drinks (not for foods) I have not heard of that many resource requirement changes...so I am assuming they are going to be minor if any. I do know a fact that reactive gas will be required because I asked him about it in an example and the developers said that was staying in...
...but as others have said, I don't know 100% sure myself, and now is not a great time for the quick flow of information.
