Since the dawn of time celebratory feasting has been a way to mark special events. I was thinking, what if in SWG there were foods that, through some game mechanism, could only be made at certain times of the year? For example, during Valentines day there could be a box of chocolates. At Thanksgiving there would be some SWG equivalent of turkey. And so on. These foods would be special because after the holiday passes, they could no longer be made until next year (though you may have some leftovers :smileyhappy.

The foods should have some nice stats so that chefs would want to make them and players would want to eat them.

Thats a fun idea! Fruit Salads in the summer, Fruit cake during the holidays. hehe.

That would be great, although I'd like the land to have seasons even better. Anyone remember AC? I used to love the seasonal patches, they change a few texture maps, and you have a whole new atmosphere to explore.

Yes that works. I thought you meant that Devs would hand out food at player events. My bad.

The most bothersome thing about giving things out at player events, is that I have been to many player events (weddings, grand openings, contests, parties, you name it), and often times I am really bored. That pretty much entices me not to go to any other player events.

Or better yet...have foods that you only get at certain celebrations. May be easier for developers to do.

The trouble is, Pex has said that they don't like to announce where and when the Devs will be showing up, due to fear that people will flock there and crash the server.

And if you only get them at such events, few people will get any.

I was kind of hoping that each year as the game passes everyone could look forward to the seasonal food. "Ohhhh. It's almost Thanksgiving, The roast rancor will be coming out!"

Ok, let's say they are doing life celebrations in January, right? Well, during January we get a new schematic in the novice chef box...or in the entrees I box. Then, when the celebrations are over, the schematic goes away. So during the celebrations, the players can do their own holiday feasts.

Very similiar to your idea, I was just thinking that doing seasonally would be hard, so just have it co-incide with events...not tied directly too the events.
