Some of you have noticed this item in the patch notes for the test center:

  • Defensive Modifiers will have a hard cap with profession template stacking. Defense stacking will no longer stack beyond the intended combat calculation limits causing the defender to be nigh invulnerable.

I asked the developers how this will effect food, and the answer is that it won't. This cap comes in before "situational modifiers." Situational modifiers includes food buffs, squad leader bonuses and city bonuses, amoung other things.

Which means they put a limit on the base defense number, but you can add to that number with buffs.

Does this apply to ranged and melee defence only or to both those and the various defences vs status effects?

To be honest, I am not sure. You might want to ask a correspondent for one of the combat classes. My character on the test center is too weak to do any combat.

Awesome! Good to know about this. I was terribly afraid our foods would go useless. Hmmm... so does this mean BE enhanced melee defense clothing will also stack beyond the hardcap? Do SEAs stack beyond the hardcap?
