I need help in understanding what the food assembly bonus (skill tapes, apron, etc) really do. I know in general it helps lower the chance for a critical failure, but does it help the stats of the food any in the initial assembly? Does it work like experimentation points where you want to get a +10 before you can see the one point effect?
Meaning.. I just got another food assembly tape. Now I have a total of +10 food assembly. Besides critical failures becoming less frequent, can I expect any other bonus with that?
Not a huge deal, just curious.
Thanks!!

Well, the starting percentages are lower for success types worse than "great". This is especially noticable with fewer levels of Cooking skill, not so much once you get to +100 assembly at Master. The vast majority of my successful assemblies are "great success", and as far as I've been able to tell, an amazing assembly doesn't increase the starting percentage. It might have some other subtle effect, though, maybe a slight bump in the max percentage, or a greater chance of amazing experiment results.
I'd go with the assumption that more assembly couldn't hurt, but you probably shouldn't break the bank buying them.
