Hi, I was just wondering why i get 8 uses from brandy when i use large glasses, and then only 6 uses when i make it using barrels. All of my other resources are the same. Thanks for any help.

Copied from the "Chefs top issues" stickied up top.
1 Barrels do not increase drink stack size (Bug)
The "Barrel" drink container results in the drink having a stack size identical as when a Small Glass is used. This has been tested on drinks of several starting quantities: Spiced Tea (stack size 3), Vasarian Brandy (stack size 6), Breath of Heaven (stack size 2).
To reproduce this bug, craft a drink using a small glass. Craft the drink with a cask, and the stack size will be three times as large. Craft the drink with a barrel and the stack size will be the same as when using a small glass

Great, and I just started two 1000 barrel runs in my factories. The least they could do if stuff does not work, is remove or disable it so people do not waste their time with it!
What a waste of time and money!
Time to open a case with customer service. Not that it will make any difference, but they have GOT to fix this crap. I am getting really tired of getting suprised with these things.

Is this so difficult to fix? It seems like this has been an issue for SEVERAL patch releases. What is the deal...just change the probably one line of code and be done with it. This is just to trivial to not have been fixed already. AKA Annoying...please fix this now...please...

I don't think they should fix barrels at all... if they do, barrels should take on the current cask uses... and casks should drop. Last thing we need is people buying a crate of 25 stacks of brandy with 32 uses each...

I don't see why fixin barrels is a game-breaker, ok so it will allow larger quantities of brandy.. no differance between people buying one crate of 42per Bottle / 25 per crate, compared to two crates of 21 per bottle made from Casks...
I have trouble keeping stock in as it is, and I'm selling for the going rate and sell whole crates regularly which in turn keeps me in stock of more tissues/trims for casks.
If people have the money and want to blow a large chunk of cash on a crate of "barreled" Brandy, fair play. It's also gonna save space in the inventory too
I do see the point of major bug fixing first, but it is annoying if we're not warned about it first. Maybe a list of known bugs should be posted on the forums by the Devs so we know what to avoid.. *shrugs*

Sci, I agree. Also, fixing barrels would take more effort than just correcting a database field, as the Devs have already told us they intended barrels to work differently than other containers (i.e. to not be usable with certain recipes). What I don't understand is why they can't simply remove barrels from the game. We don't need them, and there doesn't seem to be any Dev interest in fixing them. With that being the case, why continue to abuse new Chefs who try to make use of them, advertising your own mistake in the process?
Broken barrels manage to piss off players and make the Devs look incompetent at the same time.
A simple "we've evaluated drinks and decided they are well balanced at the current stack size, so we're removing barrels" statement would show good Dev communication and take an enrty off the "thing that are broken in SWG" list. We're talking win-win here.

I think since the revamp, actually...

The first problem is that in software "little fixes" can end up causing big problems. So while it might be trivial to make the change, validating that nothing else broke can be time consuming. I'm in the software development field, and I've personally seen one-line fixes cause whole programs to go belly up.
The second problem is that there are so many "little problems", that they can easily suck up all the dev time that SOE would rather be spent on big problems or new content. If the barrels got fixed, then professionA would want little bugsB and C fixed, then professionD would wantE fixed, and so on. Plus, compared to someother ones, the barrel bug is fairly new ("only" since the revamp in Feb). Bigger bugs have stuck around longer. Skill attachments, for example, have beenbroken since launch.
IMO, the barrel bug is just what you said: annoying. But it's not game breaking. The bug has been submitted, it's in the dev's tracking system, and it's #1 on our top issues list. As the big system revamps like Jedi, combat, and Jump to Lightspeed get done (or closer to release) the devs should move from more "design new stuff" coding to "fix old stuff". It's a balancing act that they have to walk.
