What's the deal with this?? I have heard those Jedi who craft up this skill box will have an additional +2 experimentation?? If so it renders the +12 chef. Is this true? If so, I forsee many crafters seriously considering quitting if so lol!

That's still up in the air, but here's what we know now:

1) "Force Experimentation" skills are learned in the Force sensitive boxes, which are gained before becoming Jedi (at least after publish 10).

2) These boxes cost 1 skill point (confirmed on TC but may change), and require completing quests (still speculation) to earn the Jedi xp to train them after Publish 10.

3) The answer I got from Keldarin (the head dev working on Jedi revamp) at Fan Fest was that these will add actual experimentation points, allowing for a 14 point crafter (10 for Master + 2 for skill tapes + 2 for FS skills).

4) However, after lucking into getting flagged as a padawan on TC2, I saw that they did not add points (not even for Jedi-specific items like lightsabres). At this point, the description was identical to the other "X experimentation" skills: it said that they provide more experimentation points.

5) Recently (I think it was with the rollback the other day), the skill description changed so now it states that the skill "improves your chances for an amazing success".

So, as of last night it looks like that a crafter who takes up Force Experimentation IV (giving +20) will have the effect of a continuous +20 Bespin port, but no more experimentation points to spend.

There are some vocal people on both sides (those who want the points and those who don't), so I suppose we'd have to wait and see what finally gets pushed to Live.

Personally, I prefer the "Bespin Port bonus" design that it changed to.

It is supposed to give +2 experimentation points (from reading fanfest transcripts etc) but is currently broken.

I have to admit, if both my chars on my jedi account are FS on patch day and it does give +2 points, I will be swapping my MRM/MSL to a Master Chef, and making my Master Chef into a combat char so I have a +14 crafter.

Well 12 points of amazing success is very much like 14 points of great success, so either way, it will work out to about the same. This does level the playing field between those that got the FS slot and those that did not as you can do 20-30 schematics before getting one that is similar to that achieve on a force sensitive char who dis 2-3 tries. The math is off of course, but the point is there.

I preferr the added experimentation points, as you can do just 4 quests and be on a level playing field with those that have the money for skill tapes. The difference between 12 and 14 points isn't as much as that between 10 and 12. The difference between 10 great success points and 12 amazing points will be very pronounced.

I will point out that just because you have the credits for skill points, doesn't mean there are skill tapes to buy. They nerf the bat cave, so all those easy to get skill enhancers are gone. Those that want to be the best they can be will always put to shame a beginner or a causal player. Be it added points or added amazing successes, there is still an advanage and people will make the most of it.

Yea it appears it will become a way to get more amazings. I'm slightly disappointed by this, but only in the fact that I will have no use in getting those skills now. It may depend on how many skill points I can gather, but it just doesn't become a required component for a crafter then. I never use bespin myself. Although mostly because of the filling. I don't create just 1 or 2 schematics at a time, I do 4+ usually.

I do get some relief out of it though. I really didn't want to do missions or get some combat prof to get the FS boxes(I highly doubt there will be many non combat missions for Jedi exp). This frees up time for my other char that I do want to make into a Jedi.
