I am wondering if anyone knows if you must be within a player city to place a cantina? My city just wnet under, and now I must move. Thinking about just dropping a cantina somewhere, anyone know if this is possible, or do I need to get zoning rights and be within city limists?

Thanks for your help.

BTW, the FAQ does rock!

As Cantina's are player structures, rather than civic, you SHOULD be able to place anywhere that allows structure placement.

I know merchant tents can, so cantina's should too.

I'm not positive (meaning I haven't personally tried otherwise) but I think that all player-owned"city" buildings (cantina, medcenter, cloning center) have to be placed within an established city's radius, and that city has to be of a certain level. I think cantina's require placement inside a "Township" (level 2) city.

Now, if a city shrinks below the required level, or disbands entirely, the cantina should still remain.
