Here is an eye-opener;

I read an auction for 3 100K stacks of good meat. The starting price for this meat was 15 million and people were bidding on it.

With that in mind, it takes 20K good meat to make any of the three main chef tissues. I can make just under 15 full runs from the above mentioned auction (less the meat needed to make the schematics). The base cost of one full run already starts out at 1 million. I have to add the cost of the flora and a reasonable profit margin. The price of the end product will be such that most chefs won't purchase the tissues. I'd have to sell at a loss.

When the meat is worth more than the end product you will be very hard pressed to find a BE crafting tissues. I can make a lot of money with little hassle and a lot shorter period of time just selling the meat as a raw resource.

Thus is the world we live in until the economy changes.

Well I assume it was better meat than what he used. Or he wasted good meat with bad flora, would be a shame.

Or even Avian meat, Docs go crazy for good avian meat (need it for buffpacks)

And MNS only use 15k meat

True it only takes 15 per for light additives and to get 53 strength they must have used average quality resources. Problem is of course, no chef would purchase anything like this.

The average price for meat is 50 cpu. I've seen it go as high as 100 cpu. Avian meat goes for insane prices so I don't even look at those auctions.

Regardless, you can see why BE chef tissues are harder and harder to find. It's easier for me to just sell the meat my bio-engineer/rifleman collects while running around sampling DNA to make animals. Last batch of chef tissues I made sold at a loss because chefs wouldn't pay even to cover the basic cost to craft the product.

Agreed. This is frustrating for both BE's and Chefs. While food prices are dropping dramatically on my server, buff prices are increasing AND a handful of extremely rich crafting doctors are pricing out the BE's for meat. My regular BE recently quit and commented on the increasing difficulty of getting good meat. When I estimated his costs for meat from his prices, they had to have been less than 60 cpu. No seasoned player will accept that anymore. It's hard finding a good BE, let alone ANY BE who does chef tissues. I can't get anyone to harvest milk at 120 cpu because every other doc is offering 100-300 cpu on herbivore and avian meat. I sometimes get comments about some of my food prices being too high, yet people line up at Coronet and swallow all the crap from the buffers for 15k. I remember when buffs were 8-10k and I thought 12k was a rip-off. Now 15k is standard, and higher is beginning to be accepted.

On tempest meat prices must be a lot lower. The last dath carn meat spawn that ended a few days ago i bought at 30 cpu off hunters and got around a million units. Also I bought lok carn at 40 cpu, lok herb at 50 cpu and yavin carn at 40 cpu and got a few hundred thousand of each of these. Get a good group of hunters hunting for you on a regular basis and people will hunt for less money
