Thread: Chef wannabe and not cause of a Holocron
I want one of my alts to master chef as it is so hard to find the items I want and now need. Also, with the upcoming changes this will amplify the problem as food and drink can really be customized. I want to avoid all this and have my own personal chef. However, I am not sure where to start.
I know I need flora harvestors and water and of course power to run the harvestors and cash to run everything. Money shouldnt be an issue. Slots for harvestors shouldnt be an issue either as I have three accounts with a total of only one large and two medium houses.
So, what how many types of things (corn, wheat, whatever) are there that can be grown? I would like one harvestor per item, as well as one power generating machine and one or two water evaporators. Just need advice on how much of each machine is needed and if a large harvestor or small one is needed for what type of crop.
Thanks for all the help in advance. Looking forward to making various stews and brews.

If you look up at Kants guide or the Big Bad Chef Faq you will find all the answers you require. And welcome to our happy family.

Thank you so much, will do.
Roboute,
The site oferng a sheet listing the ingredients and buffs for various foods is great to keep near you when you play; every now and then when you're surveying you can take a peek at it to see what flora [or other resources.. remember, we need alot of different things too!] are valuable to your products now, and what will be handy for later boxes. Stockpiling for later never hurts!
For a quick breakdown on the number of flora resources, just open up your flora survey tool. There aretwo main categories (flora food and flora structural), under food there's vegetables, cereal, and fruit, there's 3 kinds of fruit, 4 kinds of vegetables and 8 kind of cereal (domesticated and wild versions of wheat, corn, oats, and rice). So not counting the flora structural (basically three types of wood), there are 15 types of flora resources. And each planet has it's own "native" flora, so there's Endorian Berries, Dantooine Wild Rice, Nabooian Tubers, Yavinian Domesticated Oats, etc. During any given resource shift there are 150 different types that can be harvested. Oh, and each planet has it's own water, so there's 10 different water resources available, too. You'd need 16 or so accounts to be farming absolutely everything, so you may have been a bit optimistic about "lots for harvesters shouldn't be an issue". ![]()
Of course, not all types are required for foods. A few recipes require planet-specific resources; the Corellian Ale and Brandy require Corellian flora. A few more require specific categories (Domesticated Rice for Ryshcate, Fungi for Thakitillo). Most just require a particular class: "Cereal" slots can be filled with any type of rice, wheat, corn or oats;"Vegetable" slots can be filled with tubers, greens, or fungi. And there are a couple that only need "organic" or "flora food" resources, which can be filled by just about anything.
The size of the harvesters only affect the rate at which it extracts resources, you can harvest any flora resource with any size flora harvester.
I'm putting the finishing touches on my revamp of the chef faq, check it out here and let me know if there's still anything that could use some more explanation.
