I read on some old posts about usage xp that happens when a person eats the chef's buff. It used to be that the chef would get 50% of the xp that he made originally.

Does this still occur? Thanks.

it doesnt work to my knowlage so i say no it doesnt work because i dont get any uexp so no1 does

yes it does, someone ate a food I made and I noticed xp go up like 30 points or something like that. I tested this two days ago.

You get 50% of the original crafting xp when someone eats the last dose of a stack, although it seems to require you being online, and in the same general area as the person eating the food. So if someone finishes off a stack of Wastril bread while standing close to you, you should get 35 xp (50% of 70 xp).

Eating your own food, or feeding it to your pet doesn't give the xp.

You sure about that Kriles? I'm pretty certain I'm getting usage xp when I finish off a stack of my handmade stuff (being a Pistoleer Chef I sample a fair amount of my own produce)

I don't think I get usage xp for stuff from factory crates though, which is probably related to the bug that stops us getting food xp when the factory products are made.

If nobody else can confirm before then, I'll do a testr when I get home from work.

you cant get UXP by eating your own food. to get UXP you need to have someone else close by you eat the whole stack. so far it seems like you need to be close by to each other.

Tested this one this evening. Took a note of my current chef xp. Made a stack of wastril bread by hand. Chef xp increased by 70. Chowed down the wastril bread in one sitting(only 2 servings in the stack). Chef xp went up by another 35.

Conclusion - I DID get usage xp from eating my own product. I must also take responsibility for all the holochefs who will rupture their bladders by trying to drink all the Ithorian Mists they grind in order to get the usage xp...

But is the UXP worth more than the bonus xp on practice (assuming the practice still gives a bonus like it use to back in the day)

Definitely... practice xp is an extra 5% of the make xp and rounds down (i.e 3 xp for wastril bread), usage xp is 50% of the make xp (i.e 35 xp for the wastril bread)

Looks like i'll me getting drunk off my own mist to finish off my last box of chef =)

I tried out usage xp last night. It definitely does give a bonus once you finish the stack. I got a 50% bonus on Ithorian mists every time I finished a stack. Too bad I can't eat and drink faster. Which way to the restroom please?

As far as the usage xp fo others, you really have to be in close range of the user to get xp? Has anyone verified this? If I give a free crate of Tat suns to a guildmate, and he uses them on another planet, I won't get usage xp? How about if I am on the same planet, but a long way from him?

Addendum - ate one of my factory products, got NO usage xp. Will have to get a willing guinea pig to see if I get usage xp if OTHER people eat my factory foods (I'm guessing not, but it pays to be thorough). I suspect it's because factory food grants no make xp, and usage xp is 50% of make xp. Half of zilch is nothing very much. In that case, a fix for the factory xp bug would also fix this usage xp bug (SirVimes, can you sell that to the devs as a 'two bugfixes for the price of one special' please?

Conclusion: Make it by hand, you get make xp and usage xp when it's eaten (even if you eat it up yourself).

Make it in a factory, you get NO make xp, NO usage xp if you eat it yourself and probably NO usage xp if someone else eats it (although this needs confirming)
