Thread: Food stacking and hard cap?

I was just wondering if anyone knew if foods such as thakitillo and vegeparsine are stackable and if they allow you to go over the new 125 hardcap?


I know in the recent Stratics chat the devs mentioned that SL bonuses will take you over the cap but to my knowledge nothing has been said about foods...Or maybe I just missed it? Can someone throw me a bone here?

I was told yesterday that all defence mods won't go over 125 no matter what. So if you had +125 Defence vs Knockdown from a combo of professions, thakitillo would have no effect. Yet if you had +100 Def vs Knockdown and ate thakitillo, it would make a difference upto +125, anything over wouldn't effect it. That goes for skill tapes and be clothes...yet only for defences (not things like Wound treatment (you can get upto +150 with BE clothes, +25 Bivoli, and MD))

And I was told by the developers differently. The 125 cap is only from skills and skill tapes. Situational modifiers like food and squad leader bonuses can go above the cap.

What I've heard is food goes over the cap.


Also, some foods stack, some don't:


- Brandy Mind enhance - Can stack as many as you can drink

- Cho-No Poison Resist - Can only eat one until it wears off - Will see a message that you won't gain any additional benefit and it won't allow you to consume it


I assume most/all ability mods don't stack, while stat mods do, but haven't tested all.

Good rule of thumb about stacking



-Food can always stack with non-food bonuses.


-Food that buffs stats can stack with itself.


-Food that buffs anything but stats cannot stack with itself.

Slight clarification as I think you might be talking about 2 different things.


The "Hard cap" placed on defence mods in this past patch only apply to Melee/Ranged Defence Dodge, Counterattack, Block. From the post that was said it is only skill tapes and skills that get capped at 125. Temporary modifiers don't get capped(Foods, Squad leader skills).


To my knowledge there has never been a cap on Def vs X mods. I have never seen a dev say there was, but I have also never seen a dev say there wasn't. It is generally thought that those are not capped and you can go as high as possible. No limitations(exception is only +25 from SEAs) are put on those skills.
