Hello my fellow chefs, BE's and fellowfriends of chefs,
There is a rumor going around that our Brandy is going to be nerfed. Dont know many details, so I can use some information myself. I for one have worked very hard (as I know alot of youl have) to make master chef and to make some of the galaxies best brandy. For SOE to come along and nerfan item (one that we just got) that does not need to be nerfed, I find this very offensive on SOE's part. If all it takes is whining to get things nerfed or fixed I suggest that is what we do. I ask for all the wonderful chefs and friends of chefs to speak up and let your voices be heard. Nerfing the brandy is not going to fix anything. Please help explain to SOE that their route of thinking on this is going in the wrong direction.
Only one persons opinion and thanks to all that reply,
Yobuda-Intrepid

I have not heard nor seen any evidence of a nerf. The only thing remotely close to this would be talk of changes to the ham bar & specials in the combat revamp which might make these buffs mean a little something different, but that is the case for all methods of ham buffs. But then again, what do I know.

this is probably based on a comment about how mind buffs would no longer be quite so important.
or perhaps its someone making a fairly logical jump based on the confirmation that doctor buffs will be nerfed (the devs have specifically said that multi thousand buffs would not likely be possible post combat rebalance).
I sincerely doubt that brandy will be nerfed...with accaragm and garmorrl likely to increase in popularity, taking 2 brandy's may seem less appealing a use for the entire drink stomach...that much is definately a possibility...but nerfing brandy when they plan to make the mind pool less important is just silly...nerfing brandy would have the opposite effect, less available mind buffs = mind more important.
that and the devs told us during the chef revamp that all our stuff was designed with the combat rebalance in mind (just like RIS, executioners hack, de-10, droids, CH, and BE). the only non combat professions likely to get anything nerfed are: armorsmith, weaponsmith, doctor, combat medic. all the other non combat professions should be at least as good as they are now.

After the combat revamp the mind pool won't be the all important one so I'm sure brandy sales will drop alot. I don't think anyone knows how buffing food will work in the new ham system so it's a little early for a post like this ?

I think it's unlikely that the combat balance would really change the raw values of food/drink buffs. What it might do, though, it shift the relative importance. If the Mind pool is less of a factor in combat, then Brandy may be less in demand relative to other stat buffs. That does not necesarily mean that the +400 buff brandy we see now will get reduced, just that players will not necessarily need that buf to Mind stats.
If you can get more details, I can try to verify one way or the other.
Personally, I'd like to see demand for non-Mind buffs increase. If nothing else, maybe that'll get more attention focused on getting Garmorrl's buff cap looked at.
