Hey wats up. ive been thinking about becomin a chef. wat can u do as a chef? Can you make ur own resterant? wat good things are their? thanks

The basics of becoming a chef are the same as any other crafting profession. You can make things from the schematics that are granted to you as you advance.
What you decide to do with the profession is completely up to you. You can open a "restaurant" or sell off the street. You can group up with a bunch of other merchants and create a kind of mall where everybody sells their wares and you can have a pastry shop. The possiblilities are only limited by your imagination.
As far as the good things about being a chef go, just take a look around this forum. We're all constantly raving about how much we love what we do. We have a good time. For some of us that enjoy cooking in real life, being able to create things in the game has become an extention of a fun hobby. We may groan and gripe about bugs and some other random things that are broken, but what it all boils down to is that we still enjoy ourselves so much that most of us haven't dropped the profession yet, and in fact, many have dropped other professions in favor of picking up skills to support their cooking habits.
Some of my favorite things:
...My customers
...experimenting on new foods I've never tried and finding a use for it
...sniffing out the best resources (I used to DESPISE this, but it's sort of a fun challenge now that I have the money to buy whatever I want)
...forcing myself to hunt for things that I need, even when I don't want to and finding out that I ended up with WAY more then I could have dreamed of (e.g. millions of units of meat and lots of awesome hide! yay!)
...being able to use leftover things to make something that I need a little bit of, without having to break into the actual stock I'm selling
...getting to have whichever food or drink almost whenever I want it
It may seem mundane, but it's the little things about being a chef that add to my overall enjoyment of the profession. Never in a million years did I think I'd be a crafter (all that clicking during the grind...aack!), but now that I've made the leap, I just can't imagine that I'd want to give it up. At this point, I'll probably stay a chef until I quit the game...and really, it's the only thing that's keeping me here.

yeah ^^^ described chef pretty well.... i like it cause i'm a cook/aspiring chef (yes there is a difference between and cook and a chef) in real life... i find it very fun to make top quality stuff for prices that are resonable.... chef has become a "fad" proffesion in the galaxy because people think it is easy, but the truth is if you wanna be one of the best you hve to put a lot of time and effort... and money into it. i think its one of the most rewarding crafting proffs in the game.. the money can be good if your prove yourself of high quality and keep your vendor stocked with decent prices, otherwise you'll just be smashed by the countless people doing chef cause its the "in thing"

I've noticed that lately too. The abundance of people clamoring for chef experimentation tapes on my trade forum is astonishing.
I can't figure out if they've just all been dreaming of doing it, if it's the new "in" thing to do, or if they're just all trying to take me down. lol.

With the Sologroup nerf....tons of people are thinking chef is the best way to make money ....well chef or WS ....lol little do they know that if everyone becomes a chef or WS or AS for that matter...well....no one will make money 
But just think what the world of starwars would look like....lil shops everywhere.....people's droids barking BUY MY BRANDY for 1 credit per crate lol

I would say yeah, BE is where it might be at. I too have noticed alot of people becoming Chefs as well. While I have had 2 BE's that I did buisness with retire for the village grind. Pretty fun is the fact that my store is located on Dant and some guy placed a Merchant tent for resources and a COMING SOON sign for Chef as well. Been tickled to tell him to try and place his store elsewhere since even I been thinking of rebasing my store since Dant is becoming more and more dead on Tempest.

However I could not live with sampling for pets *shudders*People seem to think chef is the best money maker, however there are really only two cases where it is. You will make alot of cash if you make the best food stat wise on the server, and you will make cash if you undercut your fellow chefs the best. However undercutting generally kills the chef economy on that server and is not reccomended at all.
I have been a chef for over a year, and it is very fun, never gonna drop it. But it is really all about what you like doing. If crafting is your game, go for it. If building a customer base and selling goods is your game, go for it. However if you enjoy combat, or making big bucks, I would try maybe scout, or BE.
