is this the most efficent way, or the fastest way? ie is there a faster way if you happen to have an insane amount of resources at hand?

I found grinding Kiwik Clusjo Swirl (recommended in the FAQ) to be insanely expensive. Granted, I was a crafting newbie, and didn't have the foresight to harvest everything ahead of time. After having mastered chef and then trying out FS grinding, I found that doing protato was much better. I only needed 1 stack of vegetables, instead of 3 stacks of fruit/berries/water. I didn't have to move my mouse to click anything. I could eat everything I made during the grinding process if I timed my macro correctly for double the XP. If I had to do it all over again, I would grind protato instead.

Wow! I guess I'm not the only one crazy about protato.
Resources needed:
5 organic (use veggies) + 20 vegetables = 25 veggies
XP per protato = 100
UXP for consuming the protato = 50
Total XP = 150 (6 XP per unit!!!)
Advantages:
1. You need fewer resources to master chef (135k give or take?)
2. You only need to survey for one resource (assuming you will harvest it yourself)
Disadvantages:
1. Takes about twice as much time as grinding with Kiwik
Protato = cost-efficient but not very time-efficient
I, too, am doing the FS grind with protato. The trick is to set it up so that you have your inventory open in the background while the crafting macro is running. Since you only need to click one resource, you don't need to move your mouse. After you've double-clicked your resources and the crafting windows are gone, you can click the protato that is produced in your inventory window. Everything has to be strategically placed.
It's a matter of preference. I'm lazy and don't wanna harvest more than one resource if I can avoid it. I especially hate looking for water!! But I'm happy with the protato method.
Good luck.

Oops, that's right. 50 additional XP, not double.
Anyway, ditto everything said above. I place/size all my windows juuuuust right so that I can eat a bunch of protatos while I grind without excessive mouse movement. I did a lot of FS grinding directly after I completed the Force Experimentation quest, but my steam sure ran out after the 2nd week.
