Thread: Just broke down how much time and resources I go through per day
I need to rant because I cant take it today...
Bottom line is that if you do any type of volume at all, you end up purchasing a lot of resources rather than bein able to harvest everything yourself. Also, unless you are capable of producing the BE tissues yourself, you have to buy that too. Its all expensive.
My guild BE told me that although she was selling to me at 40 - 50k a crate for tissues, the going rate is considered actually 150k a crate due to the pain in making them and getting the resources for them. At that rate, I really would have to charge 300k or more for a case of BE Brandy. Currently im asking 200k, but may have to go higher. But, i'm currently not selling the BE version outside our PA since just don't have the supply of tissues. I may very well have to go outside and pay 150k a crate just to get the excess tissues i need to sell to the public, in which case, I would be forced to raise my price to the public.
I harvest what I can, and my pa sometimes tosses me some meat or hides or whatever, but i still end up buying resources at every turn, often as high as 10 cpu or 20 cpu. My gosh, have you seen what people are asking for milk these days? Better than before, but still sometimes as high as 30 cpu.
So, that, I have to consider for my baseline lowest possible pricing and then figure in the stickability on the vendor factor on top of that.
It is a balence though. Being a longstanding and well known chef, I always shoot for the middle pricing of what people are charging. I don't want to be the most expensive or the least expensive. For the short term, there will be a wide difference in what people are charging, but gradually it will become a more narrow and accepted band as people learn from experience. Out of the gate, I just sort of picked a price at random that was above my expenses, which is 200 per use for non be and 400 per use for be. and watching closely peoples reactions.
One thing to keep in mind, people are really not used to this be vs non be and glass vs cask vs barral stuff, so they often just don't even realize what they are looking at when they make comment about a price. I don't think we need to justify why we price a certain thing a certain way, but we do need to help the consumer understand why one case is 30k and the other is 100k due to using different containers and the value the larger one brings them. Its all education of our customers to equip them with the knowledge they need in order to choose.
