Because they only increase the chance you wont have a crit failure when you assemble your item/schematic. Since chefs dont craftwith rare dropped/looted items food assembly is not really important to us.

If you are making a new brandy schemtic and it crit fails on assembly...who cares? Just make another one. If you are already 12 point chef and have money to burn...sure go ahead and maybe get them. Otherwise I agree they are a total waste of creds. Its money better spent elsewhere.
