It has been a long time since I've been a chef, and I'm very behind on chef forum food ideas so if I'm repeating an idea I apologize. When I was thinking about my old chef days I remembered how I wished some of the foods could be enhanced with age. Just like how a wine gets better with age, maybe a 3 month old brandy could give another +100 to its mods. I think it would give a little more depth into food crafting and selling. I know alot of people wouldn't like the idea of having to wait 3 months before selling something, but these would just be an enhancement upon current mods. So a chef could make +420 brandy and sell it for the normal price or wait 3 monthns and get a 25% increase to duration and power. The food would probably have to be stored in a special cabinet that architects could make so that not everything would get better with time, only certain foods that were properly stored. I don't think the increase to the mods for ageing should be capped, but obviously the increase needs to get less and less as time goes on. Maybe theincrease would approach a 50%, 100%, or 200% (depends what the devs would feel is a reasonable increase for holding stock in a cabinet for months)increase but never reach it. Tell me what you think

Cool idea

Definitely something worth looking in to, I think the reverse effect should happen for foods out of the crate, they should get worse as time passes (nobody wants to eat old and stale food!)

Thank you for this post. I hope the Devs take notice. I started the game in the beginning of August. I had wanted to be a "chef" immediately. My dream was to open a "vineyard" of sorts and. It's funny, I had naturally assumed that food and drink would age (both postive and negative.)

I think that aging (positive) and decay (negative) would be an essential change in future pubs. It would make crafting and"storing" that much more interesting and really help seperate and individualize the chef profession.

I see the future as this:

Pub 12.3: One drink (45 resources required) is created to be used in space

Pub. 13.2: One meal (72 resources required) is created to be used in space...75% of all land food becomes bugged

Pub. 14.1: Both space drink and meal are eliminated and 50% of all bugged food recovers their effectiveness

Pub. 14.4: Refrigerators and cellars are intruduced (new medium houses requiring 9 lots are needed for these items) and milk must be stored or will have 100% decay in three days

Pub. 15.2 The Old Man is replaced by The Milk Man

Pub. 16.3 All our wives must run quest to "get with" Milk Man

Pub. 17.2 Chef Profession eliminated entirely

Cool idea, but I doubt they would implement this. The only reason would be server storage space. The Dev's hate when we store stuff forever, so i doubt they would do anything that would require us keeping items longer.

Let me first say, I like this idea a lot!!

Now, I'll get picky for a moment... Having the improvement approach a never-reached percentage on a gradually reducing scale is another form of a cap. So I'm not quite surewhether you're opposed to the idea of a cap orin favor of havingone.

Okay - enough being picky.

I think this idea both makes sense intuitively, and would be a little something extra fun for chefs. Not only that, but it would basically reward chefs for sticking with their professions rather than profession-hopping.I'm not saying profession-hopping is a bad thing, but again - it would make intuitive sense that someone who sticks with a profession over time benefits somehow from the increased amount of experience within that profession. Yeah, I know, there would be exceptions, such as non-chefs buyingfood and keeping it in storage to gain the bonus. Generally, though, chefs wouldrealize a benefitfrom remaining in the profession.

Sadly, Ihave toagree with the posters who stated that the dev's have shown a strong drive to decrease players' incentives and even abilities to store items for extended periods.

It may not be likely to get implemented , but I think this is a terrific idea that would enhance the game.
