Is there a specific species that would be slightly better than the others for chef?

Nope, no species gets a bonus to any chef abilities. Humans do get a bonus to artisan experimentation. So is you are planning to offer artisan foods as well (any foods learned before getting novice chef), this may be of use. There are only a couple of these foods that sell, but it may be worth it for you.

The two that spring to mind are Exo Protein Wafers (a low filling synthsteak) and Travel Biscuits (terrain negotiation). They are not in very high demand, but there are people out there who swear by them. I also get weird requests every once in a while like Blob Candy and such.

My math stinks so correct me if i screwed up somewhere.

Made some +90 45mins fill 8, 9 uses spiced tea and tested it

with fill 8 you start off by drinking 12.5 spiced tea, then you drink one every 3.6 mins to keep the buff going. So for a 45 min buff you would drink 25 spiced tea. Thats 3 takes from a 25 crate at 75k = 9k for a 45 min buff that wont hit the the average of 1700 for 22.5mins into the buff. (will go up to 2250 but drop back to 1700 at the 45 min)

or you could drink 2 servings of brandy, (lower buff but allso grants regen and less ham cost) at 175k a crate 21 uses. cost 333 credits.

Larger buff, but not cost efective.

Only really good for jedi (no ham cost on lightsabers) with force healing 4000 in pvp or high end pve in my oppinion

Artisan Foods that i've been able to sell:

Exo-Protein Wafers

Crispic

Spiced Tea

Travel Biscuits

All of them sell pretty nice. Travel Biscuits a bit less than the others, but still sells. So i'd say go Human to get the extra +15 Artisan Experimentation. If you do like i did, and get +25 Artisan Experimentation in your clothing, you will become a 14 pt artisan. And it does make a difference on these foods.

But it really depends on how much you're selling, if such a step can be justified by the costs to get the tapes.
