I took over a buddies chef account thinking that since I used to armorsmith that chef couldnt be much different... WRONG!

So basicly what I need is, someone who will be online this afternoon to answer my stupid noob questions, and put up with my inane nagging, I cant ever seem to find any of the master chefs on my server online, and I could really use some advice about a few things.

thanks in advance.

ok heres a few off the top of my head.

Which glass do I use with brandy? if a schematic calls for a glass can it be whichever one I choose? is a cask or barrel or whatever its called considered in the same class as a glass?

Which stats are the most important to experiment, why?

If you had to name 4 or 5 foods that its absolutely imperative to keep on your vendor, which ones would you say?

Ill post more as they come to me

A cask is the biggest working glass, a barrel would be the biggest but its currently bugged.

Which stats are the most important to experiment, why?

Its dependant on the food really, and what you're trying to do. Normally its nutrition, then duration. But sometimes you want to lower the filling, for things like 33 fill canape, and 50 fill vercupti.

If you had to name 4 or 5 foods that its absolutely imperative to keep on your vendor, which ones would you say?

Brandy, ahrisa, Bivoli, Synthsteak and Citros snow cake. Those are my best sellers.

Im guessing glasses, casks ect must be made in an equipment factory?

Luckily you can make casks in a food/chem factory, but the trim for the casks must be made in an equipment factory.

Kinda you use food/chem factories for the casks but for most everything your gonna need to do factory runs of it.

And you can get trim from a Tailor, or pick up Tailor 0010 yourself.

I'm almost positive it's a clothing/armor factory. If barrels worked, you'd need an equipment factory for the Power Conditioner and Control Unit subcomponents for that. Other than those three items (two of them for a broken schematic), everything a chef uses can be made in a Food/Chem factory.

Yea trim is made in clothing/armor factory.

Then you take the crates of trim and put them in your food/chem factory to make the casks (of course you have to make the cask schem with the trim crates first).

Trim / Wearables Factory

Casks / Food&Chemical

Bio Tissues/Food&Chemical (For the Chef/BE)

Tissues:

Almost always use casks for the drinks and the more important stats seem to be nutrition. As a new chef you will need to get hold of a Bio Engineer and order the following tissues as most foods and drinks are better with these particular:

Micronutrient Supplements Power 54-57 (The higher the number the better the foods made)

Broad-Spectrum Nutrients Power 84-87

Intelligent Nanonutrients Power 114-117

Now all of these will need to be turned into food additives by the chef in a food factory. You will have to combine it with 15k water for each full run but stats do not matter on the water since chefs cannot experiment at this stage. Once the tissues are completed, you are ready to start the foods.

Components:

If you have any merchant skills and several factories, the best thing to do is to make several runs of each of the important components before you even consider making any foods. I stock at least 10 of each on a storage vendor ready for crafting and take advantage fo the time when business slows or vendors are full. The important ones are:

Alcohol, Soypro, Carbosyrups, and Dough. There are several others but I make them as needed.

Casks:

Casks take trim and unless you have any Tailor (it doesn't take many skill points to get this ability) you will need to find a place to buy them. Casks require 2 trim each so a full run is 20 crates. The trim is made in Wearables factories and the casks are made in food/chemical factories and also take 75k crystalline gemstone. People say there are reasons to use glasses on some items instead of casks but I have yet to find them.

Resources:

Stats on resources are of the utmost importance to a chef. When you find a good resources stock up on it because you can use it for several of the foods. Get the biggest harvestors and the most lots you can muster and jump on any good shift that comes around. Right now berries and fruit seem to rule the chef ingredients because it is used in so many of the mind products and they are the best sellers. You will need a ton of every possible flora out there if you plan on keeping a well stocked vendor. That is why so many chefs specialize on just a couple products and make them well. The resources I stock up on the most is:

Water (good and bad quality), Chrystalline Gemstone, Fruits, Berries, Cereals(wheat, oats, rice)good and bad quality, and some vegetables for components.

I make as many products as possible so I am always looking to buy resources off the trade forums and you might look into that possiblitlty as it keeps me from having to collect them myself.

You need Ranger friends or be in a guild that sponsors hunts because you will need creature resources..mostly meat, and it needs to be high quality. When a spawn comes around, find the rangers and make orders to buy in bulk before the bidding wars start and the price gets driven up. All the stats are important on meat and affect the finished product but PE seems to be the most important one I won't use anything under 925 PE when it comes to bulk meat. In bone and hide, the only stats we use it Overall and Decay. The other ones do not matter to us and you will not need that much of these in crafting. When a good spawn comes I stock up several 100k stacks of each and never have to fool with it for months.
